  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Common Grace - Christian Doctrine or Heresy?

First off, words mean something...we can't just choose how we define them. As such, grace does mean umerited favor. Secondly, i think the definition of heresy should be clear...it is doctrine that goes against orthodox teaching. I can't see how we can consider Common Grace to be something that...

What is the only reason that sin has any power in your life? Because you love it. What overcomes the power of sin? A surpassing love -- Bryan Chapell When we have a fear of God, it will make our worship serious; when we have a joy in God, it will make our worship durable. -- Stephen Charnock...

Common Grace - Christian Doctrine or Heresy?

I agree with Mikey's passage as being a very good one in defense of common grace... "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in...

    Sin

Christians sin every day. The closer we draw to God the more aware of our sins we become. We know that we are forgiven because we trust in His word and not in our feelings. 1 Jn 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    the PCA and legalism

The PCA is known to be tolerant of alcohol...but not so much smoking. I would not consider the PCA to be legalistic since they don't think that your salvation hinges on whether or not you drink or smoke, but wholly on the merits of Christ. The term "legalism" is thrown around quite a bit, so i...

I have got questions for you!!!!!!!!!

If it's anti-woman to say that men are to take on roles that women are not...then it's anti-man to say that women are to take on roles that men are not - like child birthing and raising.

I have got questions for you!!!!!!!!!

I have to point out that Paul does say that the passage you reference is the Lord's command...check out verse 37 ... If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.

I have got questions for you!!!!!!!!!

Even if this passage does have a cultural motivation, it doesn't discount the passage that does not have a cultural motivation. It's not a decided issue in many denominations, and certainly not decided in the global Church if you don't distinguish between denominational lines. And I am called...

I have got questions for you!!!!!!!!!

It's not really about what we "think" is right...the Scriptures are clear in this instance and they are clear as to the "why" for the verses...and the "why" given is not culture, but creation. 1 Tim 2:12-14 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is...
