  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Doctrines of Jesus or [RC] 'Mary', one or the other, but not both, take your pick...

That's exactly my point. He made them infallible when 'binding' His truths on His Church. Well no, the Holy Spirit can't be inspiring you to conclude that Divorce is ok, then say to another it's not ok. Truth can't contradict truth. Again, how do you now when you're listening and when you're...

Doctrines of Jesus or [RC] 'Mary', one or the other, but not both, take your pick...

Ok so you're making this claim on a personal assumption and to remain consistent, then anytime you believe you're in deep prayer and study, you likewise must admit that you cannot err when understanding and teaching the Word of God. And if you happen to differ on a specific conclusion in any...

Doctrines of Jesus or [RC] 'Mary', one or the other, but not both, take your pick...

So if you didn't say it then, you believe the Apostles were promised never to bind error on the faithful? It was already shown. And the key word isn't 'Anyone'. It's His Church core. The Apostles and their Successors. Actually, someone who completely abides in the Willl of God would be sinless...

Doctrines of Jesus or [RC] 'Mary', one or the other, but not both, take your pick...

So basically what you're saying is that only the NT, written by the same men who were never promised to be able to teach and bind error free, should be trusted. That's one massive paradox you just walked yourself into man. ^_^

Is that your infallible declaration for all Christians? If not, why should we listen to your self absorbed interpretations?

She is the Mother of Jesus, the 2nd Person of the Godhead. Since the Holy Trinity is one God, Mother Mary is the Mother of God.

Sorry, you can't separate the Human/Divinity from the person. Christ the person was either both fully human and fully divine, or half and half. Take your pick. Good, you finally agree with the Church.

    Catholicism: Saved Purely by Grace

So now you're saying that these acts of mercy are meritorious? And apply this same Grace to faith. You believe it Justifies yes? But this can only be AFTER your decision to accept it or not. So in a way, you're agreeing with me it seems.

    Catholicism: Saved Purely by Grace

Wait a minute. Are you telling me that God has nothing to do with 'Works of Love'? That it's all you? I've explained enough here for you to get my point. Go back and re-read what I said for me to lead up to that example. Show me this from a Catholic source. The CCC would come in handy now...

    Catholicism: Saved Purely by Grace

The Church never states that these works originate from ourselves. Can we at least get past that part? Because of your constant claim that the Church teaches that our works merit Salvation, I'm showing you an example you should agree with, where your action (originating and continued by the...

    Catholicism: Saved Purely by Grace

No they aren't anymore than the faith you have, is of yourself. And if you're a free will believer then it's your free will that allows God's Grace to work through you, to receive this faith. Same thing applies to the Works of God. You will either reject the Spirit who enables you to perform...

    Catholicism: Saved Purely by Grace

Works of the Spirit are not OUR works yet you seem to imply they are. If so, why? If not, then what's the problem?

    In defence of popes...

Could you make sense please. You asked a question regarding a Catholic context from other posts. Montalban said to start a new thread on what the EO believes. So what's the problem? Did you not understand his repsonse?

    Sola Scriptura (2)

Why certainly. "... We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which asserts that the Blessed Virgin Mary, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, was preserved...

    Sola Scriptura (2)

Norming is one of those things to get the focus from a non Scriptural teaching, away from the fact that sS really is their doctrine.
