    Two icons on Windows XP that didn't change...

    I think the icons are just what you are noticing... I think that probably the upgrade was not successful. If I were you, I would use "System Restore" to go back to 2000 then reinstall the upgrade. It really doesn't sound like you "have" windows XP right now.
