  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

The end of the passage tells us that the RIGHTEOUS go away to their eternal reward with the Lord. We know that scripture tells man that he is NOT righteous- there is NONE righteous, no, not one. The righteousness that the saved person has, comes not from good deeds, but from God, through Jesus...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

Yes. Let's not sit on our blessed assurance, let's go out and share it with others. Faith comes by HEARING, not by mental telepathy or osmosis. and hearing comes by the word of God and this present sinful world desperately needs to hear the word of God, needs salt and light and to know that...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

The Bible tells me that his Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of the Living God (by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone) and I am more than happy to proclaim that to anyone who will listen because my being saved is not about my own worthiness (because I...

Question to Protestants regarding certain Catholic beliefs

The real church is ONLY those who are truly born again by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Those who are bought by his blood and really DO belong to him. It's not about where you go, it's about who you know. Do you REALLY know Jesus Christ as your Saviour? That's the question. All of that...

Question to Protestants regarding certain Catholic beliefs

The bottom line is still the same one, JESUS said come follow ME. Jesus said If you continue in MY word, THEN are ye my disciples indeed and you shall KNOW THE TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you free. The big question is why do Catholics want to keep substituting so many other things and so...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

...why is it that people never quote the REST of that verse. Sigh. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

****************** I don't need to read the verses again, I already know what it says. Also, please don't confuse my straightforward tone for being confrontational. I can be a bit blunt and like to get to the point, but it's all just in a conversational tone. Okay, you seem to have a very...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

You have to know Jesus. You have to be born again by the power of the living God- you have to BE someone who truly DOES belong to the Lord (by grave through faith in Jesus) not just someone who acts like they are ( Christians must be believers not make-believers). If you really KNOW Jesus, you...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

By grace alone (God's part) , through faith in Christ alone (our part). BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ and you SHALL be saved.

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

He was nothing like Christ if he was a Hindu. An idol worshipper is NOT like the Living God. That's like saying that darkness is like light. Did you tell your Hindu person that he needed Jesus? Did you share the gospel with him? The Bible makes quite clear that except a man be BORN AGAIN he...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

The key to that passage is that Jesus said to them, I NEVER knew you. They called him Lord and did this, and that and the other, but Jesus never knew them, they were never his. "Good works" can'r save anyone, you have to KNOW the Lord Jesus.

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

Ephesians 2:8,9 I'm sure that you know the verse, and if you don't, you should. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Again, scripture tells us in Hebrews that the wages of sin is death and that...

Being a Christian vs being Christ-like

This is the context: 7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. So tell me, are you REALLY...
