  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you believe the "gift of tongues" is?

The point the Pastor was making was that they were speaking gibberish and not Greek (current, Koine or otherwise) as they claimed to the audience.

Liberty U student plotted to set off explosives, police say

Does anyone believe this is representative of students at Liberty or Christians in general? I didn't think so.

Some US Muslims Say Suicide Attacks OK

The US has gone to extraordinary methods to avoid killing innocent people. Islamic terrorists go to extraordinary methods to try and kill innocent people. How dare anyone compare US foreign policy to Islamic terrorist policy.

What do you believe the "gift of tongues" is?

I voted Xenolalia. My former Pastor once told me a story of when he was in seminary, he and some other students went to a charismatic church that claimed they were using toungues correctly (actual language) and were speaking greek. Well the students had enough greek to tell that they were not...

    Faith and God's Will

I was afraid my comments would be misinterpreted. I am in no way saying that God is weak or incapable of "speaking" to us. I believe that God has chosen to speak to us through His Word and not through "feelings". Feelings are so subjective. Feelings are affected by our flesh, our emotions...

    2 questions

Speaking of doctrine, I would like to see more churches teach using the Baptist Faith and Message or one of the Baptist Confessions so that we as Baptists know what we believe and know what makes us distinct from the other denominations. I have been to only one church that did this - it was one...

    Faith and God's Will

Eldaah, the following is my opinion of what the Bible teaches concerning this matter. It is not exhaustive and some on this forum would not agree: To answer your question, I guess it depends on what you are praying for. God's revealed will is found in the Bible. If you cannot find the specific...

    2 questions

In my experience with various Baptist churches over the last 15 yrs or so, I would say that most Baptist churches that I have visited or been a member of do not teach Reformed Theology unless the word Reformed is in their name (i.e. Providence Reformed Baptist Church). I believe that most...

Pastor inspiration - intersting article by AJC.

I once attended a Reformed Baptist church near Tacoma, WA. I went there because the teaching was so good. The pastor there preached in the expository style - not so much topical. He quoted heavily from Bible commentators to prove his point, but always told us that so and so wrote such and such...

    Your top 10 favorite hymns

I don't really have a top ten, but let me just say that I think it is great that we have had so many young people respond to this post. Long live the great hymns and may they be sung for many years to come.

    God's Calling...

I have a different take on this. I believe that if you obey God's revealed will found in the Bible, you've prayed and asked God for wisdom, and you have consulted with Godly people, if you have done all these things, then make a decision using all of these assets and go with it. Relying on...

    Baptist thoughts on membership

From above quote, the original post asked if you were the Pastor... So my answer is that if i were the Pastor, I would allow you to join so long as the essentials of our two belief systems were in agreement. I, as the Pastor, would have to decide what the essentials were. If satisfied, I would...
