  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What bible do you guys like?

My church uses the ESV. I personally prefer the Modern Language Bible aka New Berkeley Version and the earlier Berkeley Version. I also like the American Standard Version of 1901, the Ronald Knox translation, and the NASB.

Did we ever lived before ?

One of the problems with believing in reincarnation is that the body is not very important. You change bodies thousands of times. But the Bible teaches resurrection. If reincarnation exists, you would the ridiculous situation of resurrecting with thousands of bodies on Judgment Day. ;)

    Female readers

At the LCMS church I attend, male and female laity read the OT and Epistles and the pastor reads the Gospel. There is no rule in the LCMS forbidding male or female laity from reading the Scriptures during the worship service. I've done it numerous times over the years. :amen::thumbsup:

    Never read the Bible...

When I first read the Bible, I started with the Book of Psalms. It was a great start in Bible reading. I would also recommend reading a One Year Bible, in which you read parts of the OT and NT each day.

Are Jack Chick tracts hate speech?

I can't stand Chick tracts. They are unChristian in approach and ignorant.

    Visions of Saints

During the sermon about the Transfirguration, my LCMS pastor said that Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus and spoke with Him. The pastor then added that does not mean the saints can talk to the rest of us. He said that the saints in Heaven can't talk to us and we can't talk to them and if...

    Controversial Issues

The LCMS has been talking a lot about abortion and gay marriage lately. The entire January issue of The Lutheran Witness is about abortion and Woe Vs. Wade. Is the LCMS in danger of becoming a political force and forgetting the Gospel? Some churches have left the Gospel and embraced social...

The Reason Why Christians/Churches Spend So Much Time on Controversial Issues

My denomination is getting more and more political. They claim that abortion and gay marriage are not political issues and that the devil wants us to think they are political issues, so that's their excuse for talking about it so much.
