Bible´s genesis taught instead of evolution : pro and con

God's sovereignty is an implicit theme of any Christian trying to accurately interpret the Bible. Using science as a reference for interpreting Genesis is no different than people using the culture and customs of 1st century jews when interpreting the New Testament. I don't see what the problem...

Bible´s genesis taught instead of evolution : pro and con

The person I was responding to was saying that all of Genesis was absolute historical and scientific truth, in other words, not a parable. The stars were created after vegetation was on the earth. The sun was created after there was vegetation on the earth. The timeline is also a little tight...

Bible´s genesis taught instead of evolution : pro and con

Why base all of your faith in a theology that has proven to be inaccurate?

Bible´s genesis taught instead of evolution : pro and con

The bible cant be interpreted correctly without context. There is no reason we can not use science as context for Geneisis. I am sorry if this bothers you. People always try to use history as context when describing events in the NT, and using science as a context for Genesis is similiar.

    Tired of it

Enissophobia. The fear of having committed the unpardonable sin. Its quite common. I only know this term because I had it.

Bible´s genesis taught instead of evolution : pro and con

Science is what is taught in schools in america, not religion. Creationism is a derivative of religion while evolution is a derivative of science. Thus, creationism should not be in public school curriculum. As for private schools, it is their choice. The debate of evolution vs creationism is...

    Tired of it

Hi Rob, I am assuming that you have converns over possibly committing the unpardonable sin. I had the same problem a few years ago. In fact, there are many people under the OCD part of this forum who are fighting the exact same fight as you. http://www.christianforums.com/f598/ . Perhaps...

What are your thoughts on John Hagee?

I believe that John Hagee is a messed up preacher. Several years ago, John Hagee divorced his first wife and married a younger woman. From my understanding, he admitted his immorality infront of his church. A letter that he wrote to the church was used in the divorce case with his wife...

You will soon end your tedious, tiresome journey!

Hi pd, I find this to have an overly pessimistic view of this life. Is there a reason I am unable to enjoy my stay here on earth and the blessings God has given me? God has the perfect plan for us. If i follow god's will, I hope that I will not find tears to be common. I'm going to enjoy my...

    Dinosaurs and Man

Don't you believe that it is important to unbiasedly scrutinize your religious beliefs? How do you believe that all these radical sets of Christianity and Islam get started? I understand that faith is blind;faith is believing without seeing, but it not is device that lets you willfully deny...

Do Baptists appear to be intellectually challenged baboons...?

I can do that. I am also just curious, do you believe that the modern science accurately describes the creation of the universe?

Do Baptists appear to be intellectually challenged baboons...?

PhoenixDem Please show me where Princeton Guy has said the scriptures were false. Please show me where he said Genesis didn't apply. Please show me where someone has said, mankind doesn't have a fallen nature; Jesus didn't exist. Quite simply, his main argument the way I am interpreting it...

Do Baptists appear to be intellectually challenged baboons...?

I do not see why this is such a divisive issue. I do not see why both sides can't acknowledge each other's point of view. There are much more important issues. Is this something worth spending energy on?
