  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Which Dogmatics book is used in the ELS?

I believe they use Pieper's Dogmatics.

Comparison - traditional Baptist confession & Luther?

I don't know what you mean by early Baptist confession. If you mean the London Baptist confession of 1688 or 1687( I can't recall the exact year) there is a great divide between what Luther believed and what the Baptists of that time believed. That confession is more inline with the reformed...

    Staff/members discussion thread (report free)

I haven't seen the "unfriendliness". This forum is pretty tame compared to others like CARM.org, which is the worst by far. Those people are different though cause they allow people to post anywhere they want to and most of it is unmoderated so they can easily spread their hate on whomever...

Are Home Altars A Lutheran Tradition?

I dunno. I was just curious. I've never seen one in any of the Lutheran homes I've been in but the majority of my church are from a reformed background. I googled it and the hits I came up with are mainly young Catholics or new converts to Catholicism. The catholic homes I remember from my...

    Why makes/keeps you Lutheran?

It's not just you. Which is too bad cause I've found some really neat old books online and I just can't get used to an Ereader.

I'm so glad I found A Christian adhd forum

Have you been diagnosed with it? My son was diagnosed several years ago with it. It's been a trying experience sometimes but we had a lot of family therapy and it has really helped us.

    Medication options

Sorry for being late to the conversation but have you considered that it might be anxiety? Sometimes anxiety can cause children to lash out instead of being fearful, which I think would be my first reaction. Anyways, did you get the matter settled?

    Lutheran Prayer book

I haven't been able to find one online but the closest thing we have in the Evangelical Lutheran Synod is the Hymnary.

    Why makes/keeps you Lutheran?

Okay....It's called "Book of Family Prayer" by Nils Jakob Laache. It was originally intended to be used by Norwegian immigrant families that settled in the US around 1880's. Until the synod had an opportunity to send missionaries over to establish a church. The book follows the church...

    Why makes/keeps you Lutheran?

Your local ELS congregation should have some. :D Also, I think you can get it through the bookstore at Bethany Lutheran College. Bookstore | Bethany Lutheran College If their website is still down let me know and I can give you more detailed information on the book so you can call in...

    Why makes/keeps you Lutheran?

yeah I like it a lot. It's been a great resource for me, especially coming from a background that never used anything remotely liturgical. Have you ever seen the ELS book of Family Prayer?
