  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Bible Study for The Message

I would personally recommend using the Message (only if you have to) along side a reliable translation of the bible. Or read it as a book and think of it as commentary. It is VERY loosely translated, don't get me wrong I think Eugene Peterson had a great idea when he did what he did. I just feel...

    ESV Reformation Study Bible Rant

My Reformation bible is of sub quality also, mostly the quality of the leather on the cover. Want a REALLY GOOD bible go to www.leatherbibles.com. I have the ESV thinline from them with their calfskin, it is VERY well crafted. My main Bible is an NASB Open Study Bible and the cover is bonded...

What is the most moving book you have read?

On the Road by Jack Kerouac It was literally the most moving book I have read. Each time I read it I moved. First I joined the navy, the second time I read it, I took a three week road trip with my brother and never told anyone!

Why are young adults so neglected in churches today??

I found that to be the case at my church. I was 20 something and there was nothing there for me. Hum, what to do what to do. I had about 15-20 people that were in that category at my church. I invited them over to my parents house on Sunday nights, which is where I was living at the time. We...

What is your favorite "Study Bible"?

This is a really good study bible. The more I use it the better I like it. I have a lot of study bibles. Seems that they all have things that I "like" but so often they have to many things that I don't like. Here are some of them that I have in order of preference. 1. ESV - Reformation Study...

What is your favorite "Study Bible"?

I really like this study bible. What I don't like is the lack of color maps and the words of Christ are not in red. Also the quality of the leather of the Bible is pretty weak. I use this study bible and my thompson chain reference bible the most.

Why are various Bible translations so....

It could be that there are just as many people with varying opinions as there are Bible translations.

A literal Genesis requries an imperfect God.

It's an interesting take on the whole thing. Fortunately you are not God, and neither am I. We can not put God in a box. We can not expect human expectations from Him. Things like the lost and found game, childbirth, and rest. Who are you to call any of those imperfections in God's eyes? Is God...

    Version of Bible used

I would agree with that. I would ad once you start memorizing from the KJV you will fall more in love with it, not necessarily KJO.

    Favorite Bible version

I haven't heard a lot about the NET bible on the boards. It's good to bring some attention to it. I have a copy and like it, it just takes me time to change, especially bible versions! I think the bible.org web site is awesome. There are so many good articles there. I use them frequently in the...

    Version of Bible used

I should have gone more in depth with my statement. I was refering to a CHRISTIAN Bible. I agree that we should test versions of the Bible. My response was short because this whole "version" debate is tiring and futile. America especially is not going to return to the KJV of the bible. That does...

    Version of Bible used

Nice poll! Why does this need to be battled over so much? There are so many convicted bible version debates out there. It would be awesome to meet with Jesus Christ as the starting point and the forgiveness that His blood brings. I would find it comical to take this debate to underground house...

why is java 2 platform on my computer

Why do you need to erase it? It is fine to leave on your computer. You might have needed it for your online album. Leave well enough alone.:liturgy:

    Athiest Interest in debate?

I could have probably worded the whole question better. It was mere curiosity. I don't know a whole lot about athiesm, and was trying to get a better grasp of it. What is right and moral to an athiest. Or how would an athiest define morality? Thanks for all of the insight.
