  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Need Help in Growing Spiritually

I dont want to point my finger at any one tradition or say any of them are wrong in and of themselves but its when they are believed in as truth even though they are in conflict with the Bible. For example the Anabaptist tradition, most people in that tradition believe that what they do it truth...

    Need Help in Growing Spiritually

I think the way one practices their faith, that is their religion, is fine. Its when people come to believe that the religion is the truth even in the evidence of Scripture. Theres a lady down the street from a different tradition than mine that we have talked before and she doesnt care what the...

    Need Help in Growing Spiritually

Id have to agree with that. The institutional church, whatever you tradition, is opposed to what Jesus taught about church. But its all we have so to obey what Jesus said to "Not forsake the gathering together" we have to go to that without believing what they teach without checking it out for...

    Need Help in Growing Spiritually

You must have a discipler. That being said they are few and far between so you probably are left to your own devices. Study and reading are a help but dont go far enough for most people. You need to read a paragraph starting in Romans 12:1. Then meditate on that paragraph, write down what you...

    lifetime discipler

Thanks again, I just got up and am reading your response. You seem like a wise person. Ive been discipling for about 20 years using one method or another and I have found that a formal core provides the energy to keep the thing moving forward and the relationship to keep us together and...

    lifetime discipler

Thanks that is what I was looking for. In my tradition there is no guidance, we are individuals on our own. To be a discipler or to be discipled is weirdness but it seems very biblical. The strangness of what Im doing is why Im wondering if I should keep going with these guys but I am so blessed...

    lifetime discipler

I would say older brother figure. Initially we were just acquaintances that I asked if theyd like to enter a discipling relationship. It started with a follow up book and relationship building. There also was a journal for daily quite times and sermon notes. The sermon notes can be eliminated...

    lifetime discipler

It might be in some denominations but the Bible talks about disciples so Im using those words. In the beginning I was teaching them a lot of things but as they grew it became a mutual thing where I get as much out of it as they do. I still have the responsibility but it is not an authoritarian...

    lifetime discipler

I have stated that people need a discipler for life no matter where they are in their spiritual development. I have been discipling 3 men for 6 years and I am wondering if they still need it or want it. Philippians 1:5 tells us that we never arrive and Paul discipled until his death. I know of...

    When was Peter saved?

I should have said that I just registered and found the reging questions personal so I used impersonal answers to veil myself.

    When was Peter saved?

Most of the gospels occurred during the old testament period, the new testament period beginning with the Pentecost. As such he was saved like other old testament saints were, by believing what God said. Yes he lived, for awhile, in the new testament period but was still an old testament saint.
