  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is "Works of the Law"

It all sounds very well thought out and logical. However when you read Galatians 4 surprisingly if challenges the idea of 2 covenants being to separate time zones and 2 methods of salvation which some espouse. Rereading it what I discovered with the help of the evangelist E.J. Waggoner in his...

What is "Works of the Law"

So really then it's really boiling down to "Why then the law" AND "How to keep it"? Does that not simplify the whole argument? Ceremonial was to enourgage us, teach us, give us a structured object lesson each time something was required for us to do to enhance the knowledge of God, to teach us...

What is "Works of the Law"

What is the relationship to the law that Paul warns about in Galatians 3:16? What is "Works of the Law? First off, is it any Law or only the ceremonial law? If it's both the moral and ceremonial he's talking about then... is it the approach or relationship to the law he's warning about?

    "Works of the Law"

In Galatians chapter 2:16 Paul states that the "Works of the Law" cannot save you. Does this mean "Works of the Law" is bad? If it is bad, what is bad about keeping the moral law? Now before you all correct me in that Paul is referring to the "ceremonial law" only, then please show me how the...

O.T. Vs. N.T. Victory over sin

Ok got it. So my question is Is "keeping the law" considered legalism when it's done in the strength of the Lord? Like Peter walking on the water.

O.T. Vs. N.T. Victory over sin

The real issue then in the O.T. and N.T. is how to keep law, exploring the what is the letter of the law, understanding deeply what the spirit of the law is. Knowing the depth and breath of it like David expounded in PS 119. We should know then what does a counterfeit experience look like in law...

O.T. Vs. N.T. Victory over sin

Is Paul in Acts as you reference, be actually referring to the perversion of taking a symbol (ceremonial)that was supposed to deepen the meaning of salvation (by faith) and get this carnal religion of thinking of working for salvation and correcting it on the way out of the symbol not being...

O.T. Vs. N.T. Victory over sin

So what you or a dispensationalist theologian would say is that in the O.T. we keep the law in our own strength and are saved as a result? And in the N.T. we don't have to keep the law and are saved by grace for believing?

O.T. Vs. N.T. Victory over sin

My question is this: What are the differences theologically and practically between a believer in the Old Testament vs. the New Testament with respect to overcoming a sin. Let me give you an example. If I was tempted to kill someone in the O.T. and you were tempted to kill someone in the N.T...
