  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Binding of Satan: 1000-1800 AD

This helps to clarify things further. I still am a little unsure about how to handle 1 Peter 5:8 (Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.) Satan obviously isn't bound in a literal pit, but I do definitely see that...

Where are these posted? I don't see them in this particular thread. (Or am I looking in the wrong place?)

    Defending Amillennialism to a Premillennialist

Excellent. That even clarified some lingering doubts I had on that issue.

    What Promise Was Isaac Under???

The Covenant of Grace is not the Old Covenant. They are two separate things. The Old Covenant is more of a covenant of works -- in that through their works (adhering to the Law) but also their faith in what was not yet seen Old Covenant believers were saved. Covenant of Grace: God's calling...

How a Misinterpretation can cause a PROBLEM..The KINGDOM

Eph3Nine, I'm sorry. It appears we will have to agree to disagree on this topic. I have studied in depth and believe that the Bible to be more unified in theme, with application to all believers (not just certain groups). You are convinced that there are these divisions. We may not know this...

    Calvin

Much of Covenant Theology uses Calvin's teachings as a general framework. However, what Calvin taught is generally considered to be "Reformed." Reformed Theology and Covenant Theology usually go hand-in-hand, but are not true synonyms.

    Covenant Theology Spiritualizes everything

That is sad. Please understand that it is not the fault of Covenant Theology. It is the fault of those who taught you, who emphasized legalism rather than liberty. Their theology and application was wrong -- not the system of Biblical interpretation which they claimed to be associated with...

    Covenant Theology Spiritualizes everything

Excellent post. Your story is similar to mine in that my parents were both saved in a dispensational church and thus continue to maintain ties to dispensationalism (although my mother is now practically dispensational in name only). Around the age of 18 I began to study on my own, independent...

    What Promise Was Isaac Under???

@ddub85 The promise is essentially that Isaac (though not Abraham's firstborn) was the "elect" child through which would come the chosen people of Israel. The covenant referred to in this particular case is not a case of old covenant vs. new covenant but rather the Covenant of Grace, which is...

Could i borrow a Dispensationalist please?

While on the topic of "dispensations", it's also important to point out that what is translated "dispensation" in the King James Version is usually translated "stewardship" in other translations. When Paul referred to a "dispensation of grace" he was not referring to the current era but rather a...

    Take a Look!

Revelation 20:4 says nothing about "on the earth." Please back that up with Scripture. Where does it specifically say this? The Gospel of the Kingdom is the Good News (Gospel) of Christ. The Gospel of the Kingdom is the good news that leads people to Him.

    How to Understand YOUR Bible!

I don't think that is what "rightly dividing" means. Check that verse in another translation. 2Timothy 2:15 (ESV) -- "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." I think the reason for so many...
