  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is Saturday Sabbath Observance Essential?

You're the one taking the simplistic approach to this question. There are multiple texts in the OT saying there was to be one law of the Israelites and the strangers(Gentiles). There was to be no separate set of laws for the Gentiles. In Isaiah 56:7 God says His house was to be house of...

Characteristics of Progressive and Evangelical Adventists

I often see people making the "there is more truth to revealed" statement, but then they go on to reject established truth with the "more truth" statements as their justification. However, new truth will enhance, not contradict, established truth so the justification for rejecting established...

Liberal states hard on the poor

You don't live on the east side. It isn't booming. And the things you're so happy about are the reasons the state is so far in debt it will take decades to pay it off, if the politicians will stop spending far more than they take in in revenue. The Democrats are wanting to raise taxes...

    "God does not kill" Books

I'd just like to point out that God is the only one who knows the beginning from the end. This life is a time of probation given us by God so that we can choose to accept or reject Him. As He knows the end from the beginning when He chooses to kill He already knows the eternal destiny of that...

Liberal states hard on the poor

Because the majority of the votes come from the Seattle area which is highly Democrat, so that this state has voted Democrat in Presidential elections since I can remember, and I'm in my mid 60's. Also, the Democrats have consistently held majorities in the legislature and there has been a...

Ben Carson - Would you vote for him?

Here's my last quote on SDA's voting.

Ben Carson - Would you vote for him?

Here are some pretty strong words from Ellen White on the question of voting. It seems to me that claudiathompson has taken a rather extreme stance on the issue of voting and politics. It is not in harmony with the overall attitude Ellen White had toward politics and political questions as...

Ben Carson - Would you vote for him?

Here is more on the question of voting and Ellen White's advice on the subject. Notice that she does not condemn anyone for voting or for knowing what is going on in the political questions of our country. What she says is that we "as a people", meaning the church as an organization, should...

Ben Carson - Would you vote for him?

claudiathompson, Your quotes about what Ellen White meant about politics are taken out of context when everything she said about voting and the civic duty of SDA's is taken into consideration. Notice that there were those in her day that objected to anything to do with politics, even to the...

Thanks for the link. I found a thread there that answered my questions.

    Is Ted Cruz a dominionist?

This is waaay off topic, but I'm a newbie here and do not understand what "blessings" are here. I've read the FAQ and done some searches trying to find out what this is and how it works but haven't been able to find anything on it. The entire FAQ section on blessings says, and I quote...

    Is Ted Cruz a dominionist?

All that what i quoted here proves is that you have no idea as to what Christianity really is.

    Is Ted Cruz a dominionist?

Once again I'll show you that you do NOT know what a secularist is. The founders of this country were NOT secularists. The quotes I gave from Washington and Franklin both show they could NOT fit into the definition of a secularist.

    Is Saturday Sabbath Observance Essential?

Do you think obeying the 10commandments is essential? Is it OK to be a thief? Is it OK to practice adultery? Is it OK to deceive people?

    Inequality

If you're born into wealth it is a part of you, just like poverty is. It's been proven over and over again that being born wealthy gives a person certain psychological characteristics and ways of thinking. Ways of thinking are intrinsic, not extrinsic, characteristics. In effect it's no...
