  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Someone please defend Microsoft.

Re: Zach's "In addition, computer admins had to be pretty good programmers themselves. They often had to tweak the source codes, and re-compile in order to get a particular software to work on their particular system."... Yeah, and in the post-Microsoft-domination era, you can't even GET...

The Laws of Kashrut / Kashruth / keeping Kosher

Hi all: I am a recent conversion to Christianity who was born Jewish (100% eastern european Jewish by blood). Why do Christians not (generally) keep Kosher? Am I, as a member of the Jewish people (blood-wise), not obligated to keep the laws of Kosher? Those OT laws still apply, don't...

    dateless waif club

Still single, still utterly socially clueless. Le sigh. Two questions. 1) Hypothetical situation-- you're walking to the supermarket, buying something, and walking home. In that time, what opportunities would you have to talk to people? Give examples of how you might meet a potential...

Central Florida - info or people - Anyone?

Heyo folks. I've moved back to central Florida... namely, Seminole County. Anyone here in Seminole, or Orange, or any other nearby counties? I'm desperately seeking info on nice churches, Christian groups, Christian (or other appropriate) hangouts, etc. in the area of Altamonte Springs or...

    I need lots of prayer

I cannot even imagine what life is like for you... :( I truly feel for you. I just said a little prayer for you, a very humble one, but I feel awful thinking of what you are going through, and even more awful as I remind myself that this was inflicted upon you, cruelly, by another person...

I Timothy 2:12 and womens' rights

Unfortunately, it seems like people are ignoring the specific text of this verse in favor of a more general discussion of the Biblical role of women. However, this verse makes a very specific and very confusing statement. Paul states that he does not allow women to hold any authority over men...

I Timothy 2:12 and womens' rights

The following verse, from Paul's first letter to Timothy, is somewhat distressing-- especially in light of another verse I've heard quoted (anyone know the actual verse?) which gives the example of a woman owning a vineyard (or something along those lines)... I Timothy 2:12: "But I do not...

    Florida Roll call

Is there a "church finder" or even a "Florida church finder" Web site? Or even just a "Central Florida church finder"?

    Florida Roll call

Well, I'm a newly Saved Christian living in central Florida (Clermont, specifically) and I am extremely, extremely lonely. I need places to go, people to see... I have only two local friends here (my two roomies, one of whom I've known since college and the other of whom is his wife) and I've...

    Tired of Struggling

Doofus: Please, please IM me. My contact info is in my profile. No, Christianity isn't about condemning. I fear that a devil has been whispering things into your ear. Christianity, in fact, is about uplifting and giving hope and-- yes-- joy to those who will accept it-- even through...

    Someone please defend Microsoft.

Bill: What in the world are you talking about? There is, and always has been, plenty of independent software for Mac OS. To this day, Microsoft does not release any free "IDE"-style (read: graphical, as opposed to merely a command-line compiler) development kits, but Apple did-- years ago, in...

    Calling all CONSERVATIVE COMPUTER GEEKS!

rgbivens: Me mentioning a fact regarding a company i dislike doesn't mean that that's WHY I dislike them. If I was talking about how much I hate Ford, and I said "Ford is a car company", would you conclude that I hate them because they are a car company?

    Calling all CONSERVATIVE COMPUTER GEEKS!

Also, Tekwerx: "I use all three types of OS. Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux." It is important to be correct in all things. You yourselef know that there are more than three types of OS. You mentioned DOS. "Types (or "Families") of OS" that I can rattle off of the top of my head: * DOS...

    Calling all CONSERVATIVE COMPUTER GEEKS!

Tekwerx: Microsoft was never known for "innovating, growing, coming out with new ideas and ways of doing things". That's a total crock, invented by MS's marketing department. Everything MS did, they bought, borrowed, imitated or stole outright from Xerox, Apple, AT&T (i.e. the birthplace of...
