  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Ninety-five Theses - 500th Anniversary

I don't think the Lutherans care all that much for Luther. At least not the ones I've met.

Al Agnostic has a question. He wants an answer from a Calvinist.

I would say to Al that if he is not among God's elect, then he most likely wouldn't be asking me this question. Non-elect people don't care about the things of God. It's all foolishness to them. Not being elect IS good news to the non-elect because they want NOTHING to do with God...

Al Agnostic has a question. He wants an answer from a Calvinist.

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) And he said, “This...

Do Christians Receive Rewards in Heaven for their Works on Earth?

Everyone will receive a reward. The non-elect will receive the reward (wages) of what they are due according to their own deeds. For the elect, the reward will be in the sense of a gift as opposed to a wage. It can also be thought of as an inheritance. Either way, it is never merited...

    Calvinist and hell

How would someone find out that they are not elect? Why would someone who is non-elect want to go to church?

My Top-10 personal favorite passages against OSAS

"What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if...

My Top-10 personal favorite passages against OSAS

"I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace." Galatians 5:3-4

My Top-10 personal favorite passages against OSAS

"On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" Matthew 7:22-23

8 passages of habitual sins that are deadly to Christians

We can only act based on what measure of faith we have been given. Jesus is the only one who is "good to go". We are relying on His grace.

8 passages of habitual sins that are deadly to Christians

The problem with your thinking here is that there is no such thing as a "Christian who will NOT inherit the kingdom of God". If you do not inherit the kingdom of God, then you are not, and never were, a Christian.

Were these Christians who lost salvation?

9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. The author is using the argumentum ad absurdum.

So I found these gems today.

All of the giants of the faith have failings. We should rejoice not so much in the person, but in the light that they bring.
