  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

American visiting London for the first time.

If you're going to go to York, use East Coast (eastcoast.co.uk I think). They will give you the cheapest fares as they're the principal operator on the East Coast Mainline. Tickets start around £8.60 each way and the fastest journey time is about 1hr44 I think. Alternatively, British Airways...

American visiting London for the first time.

People rave about the British Museum, and I suppose it's a museum you should see if you're visiting, but I think the Natural History Museum and Science Museum (which are next to each other) are better. Also check out the Tate Modern on the South Bank if you're interested in modern art. You can...

Do believe David Cameron will give us an eu referendum?

I also don't believe he'll be PM in 2017, and I think he thinks that too because if he is, however, he has three options, all of which are a loss to him: 1) Don't hold a referendum. Not popular. 2) Hold the referendum - people vote to stay in. UKIP are still a problem/same as now. 3) Hold...

    Tony Blair

Clearly invading Iraq was not a good move, but as far as home affairs go, Tony Blair is one of the strongest PMs this country has ever had. He was a vital part of securing the longevity of the peace process in Northern Ireland with the Good Friday Agreement and beyond, he brought devolution to...

Why China will continue supporting North Korea (a Chinese perspective)

I doubt it, in the long term. Their interests lie in their relationship with the EU, US, India, Brazil and the other big economies of the world. We need to strengthen that relationship and encourage them to stop propping up NK.

Why should Americans be allowed to own guns? Sandy Hook Shooting

... If you care to hear the opinion outside the US: On this side of the pond, you would be hard pressed to find anyone who supports general gun ownership. In fact, the fact that the US allows gun ownership is one of the biggest stains on its reputation here in the UK. We had a massacre here...

Is Your Church Caring for Creation?

Most churches don't seem to be aware that there are multiple funding routes they can target to get these improvements. None of the churches we featured would have been able to invest in any of their eco measures without the help of private industry (ASDA/Lloyds Bank in one instance), English...

Is Your Church Caring for Creation?

Most weren't probably- but people were hardier back then; not used to central heating. Additionally, weather was more stable - we have freak weather regularly now. The churches we visited found it most efficient (costwise and environmentally) to leave the heating on a low level at all times to...
