  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Good-bye

Due to time constraints, I am leaving Christians Forums. Although it would be easier to just leave quietly, I do want to say Thanks for some who have made an impact me. The following in particular have made a wonderful contribution to my mind and spirit over the past several months...

    The Pendulum Swings

I suppose it depends on the manner you attempt to end it. But, in principle, no I don't. If one employs coercion, then I'm obviously against that.

    The Pendulum Swings

It never ceases to amaze me how the human condition in community seems so adept at gravitating from one extreme to another. From my observations this appears to be true in most walks of life, theology not excluded. Prior to the advent of the Pentecostal/Charismatic revivals in the 20th...

Share about your favorite book of the Bible.

John's gospel is my favorite. Since I am convinced that John the disciple wrote the book, it provides me with great assurance that this is the apostolic witness to the Word who became flesh and dwelt amongst us.

    Do Bible versions matter?

I prefer the Engish Standard Version. I would highly recommend it. I also like the NIV translation.

    The weight of experience

I definitely think Scriptures have priority. They are God's inspired Word. I do think, however, that reason, experience and tradition are important tools in developing our theology. They are clearly in my mind subordinate to Scripture though in terms of being authoritative for faith and...

Were our American Founding Forefathers Christian and …

Well, Simon does have credentials, and he is one of my favorite posters, but Jim definitely has credentials too. They both have history degrees and are both excellent interpreters of history. We are most fortunate to have both of them gracing our forum. I personally owe a huge debt to them...

Were our American Founding Forefathers Christian and …

Trish, the prayer journal was very interesting. Thanks for posting the website. Washington for obvious reasons is my favorite founding father. This summer, I read a couple of books about him, and my admiration only grew. The strange thing about Washington, and Madison for that matter, is...
