  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

Now you're doubting people's conversions because of your ill-informed views of CC? Check out Calvary Chapel Distinctives, Chuck Smith's brief overview of their views on Spirit Baptism: http://calvaryauroramedia.org/resources/documents/pdf/ccd.pdf For their views on tongues, I'd point you...

Who Has Done More Than Paul Crouch??......

Kirk Cameron is on TBN sometimes, and Jentezen Franklin is pretty solid (whatever your views of Pentecostals). However, that doesn't excuse the vast majority of what Paul Crouch has put on the air, which is undeniably heretical....

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

Thanks again for totally bypassing facts and engaging in nothing but empty words and double-talk. I'm not a cessationist, and neither is Calvary Chapel. I'm not anti-Pentecostal (understatement) and neither is Calvary Chapel. This conversation is over, unless you want to address my points...

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

I posted negativity about Pentecostals/Charismatics? By what, saying I've grown from listening to Pentecostal preachers like Jentezen Franklin and that I'd be happy to worship in a CoG(Pentecostal) or CC(Charismatic) congregation? By saying that I believe all gifts are available today? This is...

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

First of all, cessationist isn't a dirty word. There is nothing inherently wrong with having a different view on secondary issues. I'm neither a Pentecostal nor a cessationist (more of a John Piper-esque continuationist). I can grow spiritually through both John MacArthur and Jentezen Franklin...

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

I did read the thread, and frankly, your definition of cessationism differs from basically everyone elses, including those who have responded in the thread. In fact, it makes little sense. I didn't make up anything about your experience with CC, I just reiterated what you posted, that they...

    Calvary Chapel - Not Pentecostal

Except that they don't. If by cessationist you mean that they believe that all of the spiritual gifts found in the New Testament are active today, then yeah they're cessationist. It sounds like you had a bad experience with the CC near you. It sounds like they might have been hostile to your...

    "Reformed" Baptists and Alien Immersion

I don't understand why anyone baptized by immersion after a profession of faith (under a Trinitarian formula) would be withheld from the Lord's Table. I'm not sure how congregational vs. denominational Baptists were in England at the time; were they deeming churches to be Baptist based on an...

    Interesting article about Creation Museum

Well that was a nice little propaganda piece.... And yeah sure it would make some visitors uncomfortable, but only visitors who knew they would be uncomfortable before ever stepping foot in the place. It's not like they're tricking anyone into going in.

    Old Earth Creation

Does anyone reject micro-evolution? I haven't even heard that from the most diehard of YEC's...

    Old Earth Creation

I identify as Old Earth because I'm not opposed to an old earth view, not because I necessarily believe it to be fact. Whether they were six literal days, or whether there is a gap between 1:2 and 1:3, I don't know. I don't think it's in contradiction to scripture to claim that the earth is more...

    How does this church sound?

Read further along in the Wikipedia article you just quoted: "Theonomy: applying the general principles of Old Testament and New Testament Law to the corresponding family, church and civil governments (compare with theocracy); opposed to church-state separation of any kind, believing the...

    Barack Obama is an idiot.

The NDP in Canada, the Labour Party in the UK, the PSOE in Spain, the SPD in Germany, PvDa in Holland, the Social Dems in Sweden, and the PS in France are far closer to socialism. The Democratic Party is nothing like those parties, and those parties aren't nearly as left wing as they used to...

    How does this church sound?

It says on their history section that they broadcast their evening service on "WRAL 50/Cable Channel 10 on Sunday evenings at 9:00 p.m". Since you live in Raleigh you could probably watch that and get an idea if you weren't planning on visiting this Sunday. It seems fairly solid to me, of...
