  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do we know specifics about Spiritual Gifts??

I have taken tests, through two different spiritual gifts classes I was in, over the years. They both gave me great, much needed feedback on where my strengths lie. The coursework included detailed workbooks, all based on the Bible. I really enjoyed learning about my AND other peoples' gifts...

Daniel & his 3 friends' diets

I had a friend tell me that Daniel and his 3 friends didn't eat any meat at all after they arrived in Babylon--not just during the 10-day "test" period, that Nebuchadnezzar's chief official agreed to. (Daniel chap. 1) Not sure that's right. Wouldn't they have allowed themselves, later on, to...

    Driving out those in Canaan

I wonder if God would have allowed the Canaanites, Jebusites, etc. to just up and leave, being forced out of the promised land. Or if the Israelites were specifically instructed to wipe them out....since God promises, in Exodus, to "drive them out" before you, as He was instructing Moses.

    1 John 1:8-10

Hi. Meant to answer back sooner. Thanks though, for your helpful/insightful answer. That really helps. My two roommates seem to say about 1 JN 1:9 that we need to continue to confess, ask forgiveness, to keep us in fellowship on a continual basis, AND keep us forgiven. My issue is that, for...

    Working out your Salvation

Can someone help me please to understand that vs in Phil chap 2, that states to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling"? I don't understand--don't see how we can be that motivated as Christians by fear and trembling. Are we supposed to have a kind of healthy fear or something, of...

    Closeness to God himself

I'm really wondering: I have been a Christian for awhile. How do you experience actual fellowship and closeness to God. I spend time in quiet time almost every day--Bible reading and prayer time. Is fellowship and intimacy with the Lord simply a matter of gaining instructions from Bible texts...

    1 John 1:8-10

Can someone help me out? :D Does 1 Jn 1:9 tell us to apologize to God and seek His forgiveness each and every time we sin, or is it saying that we do so and get cleansed (once and for all) when we get saved? It seems that asking for His forgiveness all the time is asking for something...
