  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Loving your enemies during a Trump administration

Well put. When the prodigal son came to himself, in Christ's parable, his father saw him while he was yet afar off, ran to him, threw his arms around him and kissed him. I love that! That father was Godlike, full of charity, the pure love of Jesus Christ that never faileth. If we then, being...

Loving your enemies during a Trump administration

I also believe as Mother Teresa did, and as Isaiah taught, that it is my personal responsibility to provide for the poor, the homeless, the naked, the hungry, and to hide not from my own flesh and blood. Paul said clearly that one who fails to provide for one's own family is worse than an...

LDS LDS: Celestial Marriage versus Jesus' Teaching

Just one quick note about this repetitive marriage in heaven argument here: look at the grammar. It defines very clearly who "they" in they neither marry... are. God bless you all forever. I certainly consider till death do us part infinitely more honorable and Christian than hooking and...

LDS LDS: Celestial Marriage versus Jesus' Teaching

Dan, I see what you are saying here, and most people in the world, including most Christians, believe that God and his Christ expect us to abide by the 10 Commandments, the beatitudes, the lifestyle urged by Christ and the apostles in order to be joint heirs with the Godhead. However, as long...

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

Well, the misconception brought out a legitimate concern that many of us have had or now have: that secular society is becoming more and more hostile to the disciplined religion(s) of peace. If we are in the Last Days, and I believe we are, then we would be prudent to prayerfully, carefully...

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

The point was made earlier in this thread that the court did not impose this decision. It was an agreement that the two parties made prior to judgement. No one here disputed that, but it appears that many missed it.

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

Did Jesus turn anyone away? Jn 6:66 "many walked no more after him" Did the Christ not anticipate this effect of his words just preceeding? Did He not know what was going to happen? The woman of Canaan in Matt 15 was turned away and turned away from multiple times, but persisted and won both...

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

There are two types of people who fight against God: the wicked, and the misguided. The wicked always fight Him. The misguided do so from time to time. Hence, I think, the push in US government to rule that promoting non-PC religious principles is a hate crime. There will be more of this sort...

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

I would love to agree with LoAmmi. I do agree that there has never been a ruling in the USA that required any religious institution to perform a marriage they didn't approve of. But for a Jew to think, after numerous historical examples, that a government cannot radically change for the worse...

Court rules Christian Mingle must allow LGBT couples

Now this sounds depressing and negative - but it isn't. The fact is, there is nothing anyone can do that is going to change Revelations. That's a future diary. It is our duty as followers of the Savior to emulate Him, not try to change Him. His plan will produce the most universal peace and...

Why portions of the quote above were suddenly stricken out is a mystery. I have corrected that below:

LDS LDS: Celestial Marriage versus Jesus' Teaching

Reasonable challenge, ToBeLoved. And I really appreciate your signature scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." We Mormons can get behind that. We try to avoid the hostile...

LDS LDS: Celestial Marriage versus Jesus' Teaching

Very good, Phoebe Ann. We Mormons endorse all of those quotes - and at the same time praise God and His Christ for providing the Atonement that, by definition, allows us all to receive more than we could possibly earn. 1 Nephi 11:21 And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even...

LDS LDS: Celestial Marriage versus Jesus' Teaching

Christian is one who believes in Christ, and Christ said "follow me" and "do as you have seen me do" and "Whatever the Father does, the Son also does." So let's all strive to follow Jesus, do what the Son does, so that we may know "the only True God, and Jesus Christ" whom He has sent. Do the...
