  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Limited vs unlimited atonement?

Actually, Jesus was speaking about the remnant of the Jews of that time (verse 45). They were ALL saved. Christ's statement may not be generalized or applied beyond that audience nor beyond that time. Under the new covenant the door of salvation is open to all. Stick with historical context.

How Is One’s Name Written in the Book of Life?

Thanks for admitting that you cannot show from the Old Testament that the names of Gentiles are written in the book of life. The book of life wasn't about salvation. it was Israel's census book.

Salvation by grace through faith and our responsibility?

No. Calvinists redefined the scriptures. "Dead" as a metaphor in scripture is not a spiritual condition, it is a legal standing. Nowhere does Paul say "spiritually dead." Paul never used the words "spiritually" and "dead together." Spiritual death is an idea that Calvinists imported into the...

How Is One’s Name Written in the Book of Life?

The seven churches were Jewish believers. The names of Gentiles are not written in the book of life. Neither are their names written on the New Jerusalem.

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

Verse 8 clearly tells us who didn't that didn't understand. It was the Jewish rulers who crucified Christ. Therefore, the contrast is not between the saved and the unsaved, but the Jewish rulers who couldn't understand the things of the Spirit of God and the apostles to whom the things of the...

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

Yes, it does matter. Jesus said that the Jews of his generation will be under a greater judgment. He said that the Ninevites will stand in judgment against them. This doesn't prove that Jews and Gentiles share guilt in the same measure. Jesus called only his own generation of Jews "a wicked and...

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

The natural man in 1 Corinthians 2 refers exclusively to the Jewish rulers who crucified Christ (verse 8). Note that Paul said only that they didn't understand. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Paul didn't say...

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

But it does matter historically. The Jews had a long history of rebellion against God and they had become calloused. But that wasn't the situation with the Gentiles. Jesus said that the Ninevites will stand in judgment against the Jews because they repented without the testimony of miracles. He...

Salvation by grace through faith and our responsibility?

Death in Ephesians 2:4-6 means alienation (verse 12). The prodigal son was "dead" in the sense that he was estranged from his father. His estrangement did not men that he was unable to come to his senses and return to his father. Death in the sense of alienation does not refer to a so called...

How Is One’s Name Written in the Book of Life?

Show from the Old Testament where the names of gentiles were written in the book of life. And why are their names not written upon the New Jerusalem?

How Is One’s Name Written in the Book of Life?

That's just your translation preference. Some translations render it "grant" in both verses. God doesn't give repentance in the sense Calvinists say. He gives it in the sense that he bars no one from repentance. He grants them access to repentance. Again, Paul said that he granted (gave)...

Salvation by grace through faith and our responsibility?

Are there any scriptural references that preface the word dead/death with the word "spiritual"?

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

The Berean Jews didn't have a long history of rebellion against God. Luke says that they were of more noble character in contrast to their counterparts from Thessalonica. "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great...
