  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Old Canterbury Alehouse - The Fellowship Thread

I tried South Beach and it lasted about a week. I don't think it was so much the cutting the "bad" carbs, but on the schedule I keep, it was waaaay too hard to keep to his menu plans. Now I suppose I can revisit his book and modify some things, but it was very difficult for me to make the next...

The Old Canterbury Alehouse - The Fellowship Thread

Reminds me of a great "Far Side" cartoon, two panels ... top panel, guy gets to Heaven: "Welcome to Heavan. Here's your harp." Bottom: "Welcome to Hell, here's your accordion." :)

Fidgeting for Ash Wednesday to arrive

For me, Lent isn't necessarily about giving something up ... I try to put a more positive light on Lent, like taking on something new, focusing on my prayer life, and such -- something that glorifies God. I don't look at Lent as "giving up chocolate (or wine or meat or potato chips or ______)".

I'm thinking from the "Good Eats" episode I saw, and I think I recall that you put the milk in last ...

Fidgeting for Ash Wednesday to arrive

Sheesh, I actually feel the same way ... and I've been very poor of attending church lately. But I feel the need to re-connect and focus on God's grace ... for me, I think Lent would be a good time. Janis

    Agility Activities for Dogs?

Hi there! I'm not a training authority, but I have a 2 1/2 year old golden retriever and a 5 1/2 month old chocolate lab puppy. One thing I will say is that you need to address the grabbing the lead in the mouth thing (I'm assuming this is when you have her on the lead). First, you need to get...

The Old Canterbury Alehouse - The Fellowship Thread

Oh, thanks SO much! :P Now I have to order their print catalog! I miss good tea; I'm tired of drinking this awful bagged stuff. Sheesh. The Weather Pundits called it wrong today. "Oh, maybe some rain, a few flurries south and west [of DC]." I'm here to tell ya, since driving home at 1:30...

Love the "How to Make Tea"! Ironically, the other night Food Network's "Good Eats" really had a tea show, and how to properly make it. :)

    Do you ever find...

Boy, I know what it's like -- more so from being single than from being young (I ain't so young anymore!). My fiance will go with me eventually -- I haven't pressed the issue, but he is a believer. But at the moment, I don't go myself pending a move. Now, when we move to Central WV, I know that...

    Prayers for the Pope

I too send my prayers that the Lord bless and uphold the Pontiff. While I also do not agree on many points with his theology, I do agree that he is indeed a holy man, and I have great admiration and respect for him.

The Old Canterbury Alehouse - The Fellowship Thread

My only experience with Green Mountain coffee is with my parents' kickin' coffeepot. I have got to get me one ... it's a Keurig B100, and it brews the best darn coffee I've ever had. This thing is the mother of one-cup brewers ... and I hope I can apply some tax refund to one!:yum:

Margs & fajitas? Is the Pope Catholic?! On the rocks, sis. :yum: Praise be to God! I have found my desk! And my bills, and my tax stuff. I feel less stressed now that I'm caught up, and have found the sofa in my office. I know all about the cats thing. I have a Persian, a long-hair trash cat...

I think you're at the outside end of the brunch window, but hey, I'm going to do up some of Rachel Ray's chicken wings tonight, so I'll give ya an advanced batch! I'm finally making some headway with this stupid office. Between me and the fiance, we're the world's worst at filing and...

Why do dogs do these things?

Hey, I'd just pay real money for my nearly 6-month-old chocolate lab to fully understand housebreaking! There's a flickering, sputtering flame of a clue, but dang, our golden had potty down pat at 4 months! :sigh:
