  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lutheran Santification or how can I change

Unfortunately I wasn'y very clear. I am referring to the act of confession. As described in the catechism you refered to above: " What is Confession?* Confession embraces two parts: the one is, that we confess our sins; the other, that we receive absolution, or forgiveness, from the confessor...

Lutheran Santification or how can I change

Many thanks to all those who have replied. Let me ask another question: I understand that confessional Lutheran churches still practice confession. Is that correct? What does it do for you? And do you think it can be a "tool" to bring about change?

Lutheran Santification or how can I change

Well, yes. But then again: What are my motivations for wanting to do better? Is it the desire to please God, out of love for God? Or is it fear of the consequences of sin? I don't know. I understand that santification is a process. I just wonder what are the means to progress in this process...

Lutheran Santification or how can I change

Dear Lutheran friends, I have read a couple of things about the Lutheran view on sanctification and how it is not to be separated from justification and how - and that is how I understood it, please correct me if I completely misrepresent this view - how basically change in the believer comes...

Actually I am in Luther's home country in the moment. And there are millions of Lutherans here. Not too many conservative, bible-believing ones but I reckon I could find those as well. But to be honest with you I prefer the anonymity and aloofness of the Internet for the moment. I hope you do...

15 days ago I was in hospital. My wife gave birth to our daughter. Another woman was there as well and she had to get an emergency Cesarean. I saw her being brough out of teather and the paediatrician running toward theater so I understood there was a problem with the baby. Now I do no know...

Thanks RadMan, Many thanks for your reply. It is very helpful but does not answer all my concerns. In my quotes below I have changed the font colour you used. You wrote: The central principle of the Lutheran Reformation is that we are saved "by grace alone, through faith alone, for the sake...

Thanks Marv and everybody else. You guys really know your stuff. And you pretty much convinced me that what I have believed so far to be the certain truth - That only a baptism by full immersion is valid before God and that this is clear beyound any doubts from Scriptures - is not so certain...
