The Church never taught the rapture. It's a protestant idea.

The idea that the 'good thief' (sounds kinda funny doesn't it?) went to paradise suggests that baptism of desire is a reality, thus doing away with the 'feenyite' claim that those who aren't baptized into the Catholic Church are doomed forever.
