  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Evidences for evolution

Evidence would indicate that the common ancestor of modern life on earth originated from a population of a single organism. The formation of that organism, however, remains the contentious issue, and is where abiogenesis and evolutionary biology merge. It is understood that the first...

Punctuated Equilibrium seems to be one of the leading reasons

I'm going to have to sign off for now, Shane. I really have to do some work. But I will be back, so don't think I'm skulking off. :)

    Evidences for evolution

    1. "Trust worthiness of the sources" The Church has nothing to do with evolution. Many church goers believe evolution because it is supported by evidence. 2. "The Bible" The Bible is not a literal scientific text book. No scientific claim re biodiversity made in The Bible has ever been...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. 4 hydrocarbons indicates one common ancestor. If you understood evolutionary biology you would realise that one common ancestor refers to an entire species, (even an entire genus when refering to a single celled Prokaryote). Do not twist words, or at least attempt to understand the principles...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. I am not saying that evolution is a forgone conclusion - evidence may come to light that refutes it entirely. However, contrary to literal biblicist claims, that hasn't happened. You, however, are treating Creationism as a forgone conclusion. It may well be that God did create all life on...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. Evolution is all about common ancestors - but only in terms of populations, not individual creatures that you have trouble believing (and with good reason - it's a straw man argument that is not part of evolutionary biology) 2. Re speed of diversification. I suggest you read up on...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. No Creation 'scientist' has ever done any research that has stood up to peer review by the broader scientific community. There is no empirical evidence - please provide some if you believe there is - that supports the Genesis account of a literal, 6 day creation event. 2...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. Common Hydrocarbons among organisms certainly would provide evidence of a common ancestor 2. RE: Limited amount of observed evolution. This supports the ToE - Evolution occurs over a large amount of time - much larger than the last 10,000 of recorded human history. Certainly, if we were to...

    Evidences for evolution

Evolution deals solely with the nature of biodiversity. While it doesn't use God necessarily in it's conclusions, it similarly doesn't deny the involvement of God. God and Evolution are entirely compatible. Thus it does not imply the universe is entirely mechanistic/physical

    Evidences for evolution

True - there are different types of science, but they all have on thing in common - they are based on empirical evidence. Hense Creationism isn't a science. If you're talking about origin of species in a school class, you have to allow dissenting opinion, certainly, but that dissenting...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. The 'assumptions' of evolution have nothing to do with the physical nature of the universe. Evolution is merely an explanation for the formation of biodiversity on earth. Please refer to that. 2. God may very well exist, but if he does it in no way contradicts Evolution, because evolution...

Settle petal! :) I really don't mean any nasty intent at all - even my Evangelist twin brother calls it that. Cultural differences. I'm sorry if you were offended. :)

    Evidences for evolution

Don't be a loon, please. The Babble is a pseudonym in New Zealand for The Bible, and has no derogatory intent. The Bible is fine book and a very good analysis of human ethics and values. However, it is not a Science text book. I'm not saying that there isn't a God, I'm not saying that there...

    Evidences for evolution

    1. No-one asserts that every living organism on earth came from one creature. That is a gross, yet sadly common misconception regarding the evolutionary history of life. 2. Please explain the explicit barrier that allows for adaptation within a species, but prevents the formation of a new...
