  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Episcopal Church's Katharine Jefferts Schori Will Not Seek Re-Election

I would agree with this ^ . But for every Bob and Greta, there is a Bernice and George who needs to be reached out to. Unfortunately, for as much as the Episcopal Church "welcomes" them as the sign says, outreach is often missing.

Episcopal Church's Katharine Jefferts Schori Will Not Seek Re-Election

Nobody told them they had to leave so it isn't up to the Church to draw them back. When the Episcopal church declared slavery was wrong I am sure some pro slavery congregants felt out of place. Same thing when women started being ordained. God doesn't change but what we know of God gets...

Episcopal Church's Katharine Jefferts Schori Will Not Seek Re-Election

As to bleeding members, I think a lot of that has to do with the age of the parishioners more than theology. Younger Christians aren't so much looking to be told what to believe as much as the freedom to decide for themselves. I believe that the way the Episcopal church will gain members is...

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Episcopal Church Core Beliefs and Doctrines | Episcopal Church Got tired trying to copy paste edit on android. Here's the source. Catechism, commentary to creeds. Doesn't replace. Want to know what Episcopalians believe? Looking at the creeds, not catechism. Creeds: statements of our...

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Plus, I never said I'd the bishop said it that it became gospel. Episcopalian theology isn't for the person who demands all or nothing answers and you'll probably be spiritually more filled if you look in another denomination if you need that sort of thing.

He said it was "mandatory" and "suggesting otherwise was not allowed".

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Neither do we have proof of God or heaven. We have witnesses that we choose to belief and faith. I remember being younger and believing in a physically living Santa. Belief doesn't require proof, and is called faith.

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Actually, there's been many detractors of schori and Wright from the Episcopal church. You've seem to get ECUSA confused with rcc.

What about those who reject the sacraments?

If you mean defend my argument, please remember my argument was it isn't necessary, mandatory, a make or break deal. Thats all. I can provide you with one-off the top of my head, the presiding bishop. It really isn't so much the number of bishops who profess it but the fact that a singular...

Review his posts. Several times he has said mandatory. Mandatory isn't some grey word. It means a requirement. If it is mandatory for me to report to a probation officer.there is no alternative without breaking that probation agreement.

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Again, that's official Anglican teaching. It always has and it always will be. I haven't read where it says that in the Canon or constitution. As far as prayer book and catechism. I'll have to review that. Right, and the 39 articles aren't the pope either. Neither is the catechism or prayer...

What about those who reject the sacraments?

So you can't provide proof yet you want me to? It isn't proof, but the reason I feel the way I do is because the bishops teach it. Episcopal comes from episkopos, Greek for bishops. We are under a denomination that says bishops are charged with teaching the church. If it is heresy, they...

Where's evidence he damns un baptized babies? And generally necessary does not equal mandatory. They are practically opposites.

What about those who reject the sacraments?

Again, smh. Proving your work when asked to show where this rule applies to Anglicans is more than just saying "well, it is there somewhere" and showing me where because non Anglicans are stated, obviously, Anglicans are included as well. Another non sequitur.
