  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are there countries more conservative than the US?

Ignorance of conservatism and Christianity seem to abound in this reply. The term "conservative" is misunderstood and misapplied. Conservative principles in the US are defined as additional freedoms and liberties, not coercive culture or government that kills infidels and homosexuals. And...

To The Church in America: Warning!

Sounds like more than our routine, every day cataclysms. Well, such has happened before; and it is in "the Book." Its just a matter of time and justification - when and if God reaches His limit. That is, unless individuals chooe to "spiritualize" such Biblical mentions into some personal...

To The Church in America: Warning!

And so it is written. No, God is not judging through every disaster, at least not in the way we know, expect, or understand, yet. This is not an all or nothing, black and white phenomenon. Straw man arguments can take us way off base. The man's message is clear to me. Obviously not to...

To The Church in America: Warning!

And my point is that people misjudge who is and isn't a prophet all the time. Again, as I said in my first comment, we need to listen to what is said (spoken or written), and test that against Scripture and current events. Using that test, paryer, and common sense, I think that guy has a...

To The Church in America: Warning!

True, but it does take a prophet to discern spiritual reasons of why and when. Prophets are the ones who see a connection between these events and God's will and inform others. Some things never change. I am absolutely confident that "warners" and whatever else they were called in centuries...

To The Church in America: Warning!

I think it is foolhardy to assume that all natural and man-made disasters having absolutely NOTHING to do with God's judgement. Or did His judgment, too, end with Christ?

To The Church in America: Warning!

"Most?" I must have read something different. Are you referring to his PDF linked in the OP? I thought he got most right and he missed only a few; a "few" as in 'give things a little more time - we are certanly headed in that direction." This of course assumes he is truthful to begin with. I...

Why do you consider yourself "Conservative"?

The question is "Why do I consider myself a conservative." My first tendency in answering that question is to define "conservative." Most fundamentally, a conservative is one who holds on to or "conserves" what is best from human experience. Progressives would say that conservatives hang on...

To The Church in America: Warning!

I don't think poor spelling and sloppy grammar should disqualify an individual from expressing sincere concern about the decline of churches, Christianity, and morality in this nation. Such sloppy expression may diminish credibilty in the eyes of many of us because we expect slick packaging and...

Question for those with conservative personal standards

It isn't the type of media that is the problem. It is the content. Two thousand years ago the content of person to person communication could have been a problem every bit as much as the internet, TV, and movies are today. God still requires our self-discipline and discernment to speak and...

Question for those with conservative personal standards

Not only not seeking them out, but not paying out of our limited resources (that could go toward more worthwhile efforts) for $20, $50, $100 tickets that help support these things.

Question for those with conservative personal standards

Self-deception is an easy thing to do. I do it all the time. That's why when I stop to give it some thought I consider whether is it better to err on the side of prudishness or licentiousness. When I'm really paying attention to the decisions I make, I'm called a prude. And when I don't...

First Presbyterian of Orlando leads churches breaking away from denomination

It seems simple enough from the perspective of an outsider who has no idea what 10-A is that whatever it is, it is NOT more important than Scripture. Eliminate/reinterpret/ignore/eisegete out one of the clearest prohibitions/abominations expressed in Scripture, and many of the other sins lose...

Question for those with conservative personal standards

This quote does not sanction moral relativity - e.g. it's sin only if it is sin to me. It promotes honest discernment of God's moral standards and comes down against boastful arrogance. Causing to stumble: So if someones heart is hardened to the extent that nothing appears as sin, and he hangs...

Gay softball team accused of cheating...

What is there to be surprised about? Gays who persist in their lifestyle as if it is the right thing to do while they work to transform our churches in into their own image dismiss/deny the moral standards of Holy Scripture. Why should we be surprised at anything they do?
