  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Are there such a things as right and wrong?

You could link this page to your favourites for future reference, but given it's inherent contradiction I wouldn't encourage it. What the...? Could you give me a citation from a peer-reviewed scientific study to back up this assertion. It seems like contrary to your previous statement of...

Are there such a things as right and wrong?

Perhaps Plato's Euthyphro dilemma would spice up this discussion. Essentially, the question goes as follows: "Is what is moral commanded by god because it is moral, or is it moral because it is willed by god?" This dilemma has two horns, the first implies that morality is independent of God...

Are there such a things as right and wrong?

Ah... So let’s take an example -- rape. You claim that one cannot objectively claim it an evil since it would only be wrong from the subjective perspective of the person being raped. Great; could you explain why then this is considered a crime (I hope you do consider it as such)...

It's that time again: how does gay marriage harm?

Don't bother. Your violation of the logical law of non-contradiction is refreshing enough.

It's that time again: how does gay marriage harm?

This would also apply in a society where homosexuality was illegal. Do you define your morality by the legality of an action? Wouldn't it be great living in some uncharted, ungoverned island, because then you could do what'cha like -- including all the taboos. ;)

It's that time again: how does gay marriage harm?

I'm sorry, you all look alike. Your "try again" comment smacked of a double standard. Either God makes impermissible actions impossible or he doesn't; you can't have your cake and eat it.

It's that time again: how does gay marriage harm?

Ah... so your criteria of "if God didn't want it he would make it impossible" was just obfuscation and disingenuity on your part since there are further criteria which make this a moot point. Crystal clear.

It's that time again: how does gay marriage harm?

Define "inherently harmful". They are certainly not harmful to those who benifit from the said activities.

By the same logic we may kill, rape and pillage, since if God wanted it otherwise... he would have made it impossible.

    God vs free will

Then what is the point of even attempting to do anything, if everything is already pre-decided?

    God vs free will

God is all powerful. Just because He allows something, doesn't mean that He can't stop it. If we didn't have a free will, how do you explain murder, rape, genocide etc, other than the exercising of our Free Will?

    God vs free will

I believe God gave man Free Will. Humans are beings that can willfully choose between right and wrong. God is both omniscient and omnipotent, but He chooses not to interfere in our will. That is one of the things that makes man different, and that is why God created him, a creature that can...
