  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Ecumenical

I have to reiterate once again: do NOT get religious information off of TikTok! If you're doing anything other than watching amusing cat videos on there, you're melting your mind.

    Ecumenical

Get off tiktok, do not get any religious information from it. The word is overloaded. For our purposes, we can almost consider "ecumenical" in the phrase "ecumenical patriarch" as wholly unrelated to what they're talking about, and your parish under the ecumenical patriarchate is fine...

I have a question... What do you guys think about the late Michael Heiser's work?

I think he was very interesting, he had his own personal opinions on things but presented an academic view on the ancient near east and biblical literature from a Christian, albeit Protestant (not that it usually mattered for the material presented) perspective. Fr Stephen de Young, with his...

Eastern, Greek, Russian, Syrian - who do I talk to?

With that said I don't mean to discourage you from going there if it's the closest one. You may find the Romanian parish has the best priest you've ever met. Try both out.

Eastern, Greek, Russian, Syrian - who do I talk to?

The impression I have is that Romanian parishes tend to serve mostly Romanian immigrants and therefore be mostly in Romanian, with the priest possibly not having much English. At a Greek Parish you are more likely to have a common language even if the service is mostly Greek. But this is just on...

    Status of Adam?

If somebody is addressed as "Holy", they're by definition a saint. "Saint" is just "holy".

    Status of Adam?

Yes, we see him being resurrected on the icon for Pascha and of course frequently talk about his salvation in hymnography.

Christmas trees and date of Christmas

Everybody celebrates December 25th, some just disagree what day is December 25th (some people, mostly Russian, inexplicably cling to a superstitious notion that January 7th is in fact December 25th).

    A Conversion Journey

Well, it's very "Tristram Shandy" so far, so your consultants are at least cribbing from a tried-and-true model.

Fr. Josiah On Pornography, and Nick Fuentes

Fine. Walsh and Shapiro have extensively discussed this. Given the size of their audiences, they certainly have a larger youth audience than Fuentes. (EDIT: lack of prior specificity is because the entire daily caller/daily wire/etc extended universe has much further reach and is socially...

Fr. Josiah On Pornography, and Nick Fuentes

Is it? Take your pick of any of the labeled red ones which are larger than Fuentes' small, unlabelled one. You were asking for a bigger audience...

Fr. Josiah On Pornography, and Nick Fuentes

I think his remark is more that people should be allowed to say what they want without being censored, and that the remedy to bad speech (like Fuentes) is to let them say it and then rebut it. However, that's not the same as inviting them on your platform or even letting them use your platform.

Fr. Josiah On Pornography, and Nick Fuentes

Take your pick, I don't know where he would line up in the methodology they use, I saw a figure stating he gets ~500k views per stream, but that's not necessarily the metric they're using here. Granted, he's gotten a bump since Kirk died, maybe that'd make his circle big enough to get a label...
