  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Dissafected Anglicans, why not the Orthodox Church?

You're welcome! Yes and I would say that orthopraxy over orthodoxy is what troubles me. As my signature and my avatar may indicate, I am a big Evagrius Ponticus fan! In his approach to Christianity there ought not to be such a difference between these two. Orthopraxy expresses orthodoxy and...

Dissafected Anglicans, why not the Orthodox Church?

If they want to sure. Western Rite Orthodoxy needs to grow. I do not see a wide acceptance of it throughout the Orthodox world at large very soon though. There seems to be significant hierarchical opposition. My first instinct would be to advise such Anglicans to consider the Anglican Province...

    Apostolicae Curae

You're welcome! Below I will deal with the alleged lack of intention because I believe Saepius and others have adequately dealt with the alleged lack of form. If you - or anyone else - should desire to hear my thoughts on the subject of form I could deal with that at a later time. (to...

    Apostolicae Curae

Which is a good historical account of how the condemnation came about, but as Fr. Hughes admits a faulty procedure does not necessarily lead to faulty conclusions. A thorough investigation and refutation of Apostolica Curae is provided in the same author's work: Stewards of the Lord it is...

Could I ask a question please?

Indeed we cannot proclaim doctrinally because first of all the Scripture does not allow it and neither does the Church since we are her members rather than her fullness. Speculate would be fine as far as I am concerned, it is pontificating that would be problematic. Nor am I. It is the assertion...

Could I ask a question please?

I am not sure that this is what it is. It seems to me that since God is outside time and foreknows does not require predestination. It is certainly true that it is possible some will not be saved. But it would be predestination to assert that some will be lost (insofar as the free-will of those...

Could I ask a question please?

No. What I said was: "That way it is up to freely choosing or rejecting. What universalists, such the above mentioned saints could, at the utmost, say is that they believe all will be saved freely because God foreknows it and revealed it in the Scriptures (as they indeed do, I think) -...

Could I ask a question please?

Precisely! That way it is up to freely choosing or rejecting. What universalists, such the above mentioned saints could, at the utmost, say is that they believe all will be saved freely because God foreknows it and revealed it in the Scriptures (as they indeed do, I think) - distinguishing...

Could I ask a question please?

Since a universalism which purports to be Orthodox must incorporate free-will, it would only work if repentance occurs. Without repentance there is no salvation this - as far as I can tell - is a given for both st. Gregory of Nyssa and St. Isaac (and even for Origen with whose universalism I am...
