  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Bible Recommendations for a Family Member

Just an idea: give him a Bible and explain seriously that God is real, that He loves him, and wants to help him, but we have to choose to seek Him, because He will not override our option to keep away from Him. You'll want to be prepared for what he responds with—personal experiences with God or...

Confusion about God's will and my salvation

You aren't alone in this struggle. Many, if not most, people struggle with it at some point. One technical description of who is saved is that it is those who genuinely believe the God of the Bible is real, that God's Son, Jesus, was (and is) real and really died to pay for your sins. This is...

Bible Recommendations for a Family Member

It sounds like he would benefit more from words of encouragement and support. You might consider what you think will motivate him to read it at all. But if you want to get him a Bible, I recommend a translation that is fairly easy to understand. The New Living Translation (NLT) is the most...

    Some Thoughts About Gender

It is an essential skill to work toward (through regular Bible reading) to be able to tell when someone's comment is based on something directly from the Bible or something he/she has deduced from what is in the Bible. Even when a comment is based on something directly from Scripture (which...

    Liturgical Christianity

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:12, 1984 NIV) Even the trees clap their hands in their rejoicing of the Lord. If trees can honor the Lord, you can do the...

Is It Wrong to be a Christian out of Obligation?

I like this question because there are so many facets to an answer. I wish I could spend more time on it. :) The simple answer is, not in the least! It's great! The NT, especially Jesus Himself, talks about serving with genuine love from your heart. Love the Lord your God with all your heart...

When God doesn't take away your pain.

Because the title of this thread is "When God doesn't take away your pain."

When God doesn't take away your pain.

We all experience lives in fallen bodies in a fallen world. While degrees of suffering vary, suffering is ubiquitous. The idea that we should be without suffering is a fantasy. Ultimately, relief from suffering comes through faith in God. One form of this is accepting God's wisdom as what is...

    May lose my home.

I agree with the others that you need to talk to a reputable housing attorney (who doesn't know the landowner or potential land purchasers, if any). Be sure to tell him what you wanted to do with the home and why. Some will do an hour of initial consultation at no charge. There are also...

lacking drive to seek Christ, though I know to not seek Him and love Him is Hell...

Is it your will (only genuinely revealed by your actions [but not whether they are successful or not]) to obey the Lord? If so, you are not going to lose your salvation unless you choose to reject, and keep rejecting, God. We all eventually go through "dry" times with the Lord. It is an...

Is it really impossible for those who have been born again to depart from the faith?

But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 6:15, 1984 NIV) In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your...

IS ISRAEL IN THE NEW COVENANT GOD'S CHURCH?

"Righteous by faith" in this context means have believed in and entrusted themselves to God in their hearts with the type of trust that will produce works. The other use of "righteousness" in Scripture is to be living in a way that is pleasing to God (a consequence of the aforementioned...

    6 figure income pastors

When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” (John 21:21-22, 1984 NIV)

Which had nothing to do with how a person was saved at any point in time.

IS ISRAEL IN THE NEW COVENANT GOD'S CHURCH?

Definitely not. Jesus died for all people. Anyone and everyone could turn to Him and He need not do anything further.
