  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The most christian(ish) anime you've seen?

Big Wars, and the follow-up series of Ninja Scroll have some christian elements to them, though highly distorted. Haven't watched them in a while.

Quite forthright Carebear. Criteria is just Christian, male, and part of the CF? Pretty open.

What's with the Crucifix as a symbol?

It is what it means to you, where you want to put your focus. If the crucifix means good to you, or the cross, or the fish. Jesus disciples didn't have any form of outward mark, but an outward change in their demeanor. Acts4:13 Peter and John preach before the courts, and immediately the men...

What's with the Crucifix as a symbol?

Using Jesus's emancipated corpse bound to cross seems a little off to me. Yes, he did suffer and die upon it for us, but focusing on that's like ending the LotR Return of the King with Golum grabbing the ring, cut to Saurons eye glowing malevolently, roll the credits, The End. It's depressing...

Why did Jesus have to die?

Terral does a good job of explaining what Jesus sacrifice and rebirth are, and do for us, but here's another aspect of the need for Jesus sacrifice is listed in Gen right at the fall. The why part of us needing that sacrifice to have taken place, and the place of animal sacrifice in the OT...

    who, what, where, when, how?

KJV was commissioned and written witht he intent of being the most accurate veriosn to date, at it's time. Even in current and modern cross referance translations it's accepted as such. The New King James is essentially the same book, just brushed up language to modern standards. I myself go...

Aussie are great folk, always a blast to have around. Ex-Kiwi here, and I note anytime I hear an NZ or Aussie accent, mine starts coming back. Miss being down under sometime. Far better surfing then in the Canadian prairies. ;)

More funding for our Olympic Athletes

The olympics are not as important an issue as things like healthcare, and homelessness, but there would be more than enough if things were handled intelligently. Moreso the issue would be that the olympics are seen worldwide as a nations display of such things as respect, solidarity, and...

    Canadian Christian Bands

Flashpoint is a good group. As to the Kazaa comments above, it doe hurt the big industy, but helps the little guy. I do searches for 'christian' and get sporadic hits of small unknowns that I pull down and listen too. I've picked up a couple CD's for some of them that I liked. Lot of my...

Socialism In Canada (A joke, don't tear me apart!)

It's funny because it's true. Should've mentioned people villanize the ant for moving to the US and damaging the Canadian economy.
