  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Way to Go California!!!

Honestly the most important thing to me was that the people already married got to stay married, and that happened, so i'm alright with this decision for the most part. Them being able to stay married was also the legally correct decision. I think that if something is put to a vote, then...

    Ye Olde Libertarian Pub

The uncompromising idealism is part of what attracts me to this party, actually. Compromising on principles and ideas (which can lead to "playing both sides" of issues) is basically what defines current politics and politicians, in my view, and i find that the libertarian party has far less of...

    Liberty University bans college Democrats

Wow, that doesn't really surprise me. I was initially attracted to this college just because of its name, since i want to go to a college where people have a strong belief in the principle of individual liberty. But then i looked at its website and realized a more accurate name would be...

    Non-violence

Yes, i believe in it without exceptions. I think that when attacked, people can have instinctive reactions that result in them being violent in return in order to preserve their life, and i understand that that's sometimes not controllable, but i still don't believe that makes it right. I think...

    Non-violence

Sorry everyone, i forgot to come back and read the responses yesterday after i posted this. By "morally correct", i mean that non-violence/pacifism is what logically follows after one believes in the moral premise that taking lives and/or injuring people physically is wrong. I believe in that...

    Non-violence

Who else believes in it and that it is morally correct? What are peoples thoughts?

    Non-Religious Arguments Against Same-Sex Marriage (2)

I'm not the person you're addressing this to, but not only should you not have to do that, but nor could it be possible. Meaning, there is no feasible way to actually regulate everyones marriages, either pragmatically or legally, the way some people here are describing (ie, controlling what type...

    Non-Religious Arguments Against Same-Sex Marriage (2)

I can't tell you; you're the one who used the term, and i don't know what it means. Can you define it the way you understand it?

What is gay thinking? Is there straight thinking too, and if so, what is that?

    Should We Leave Pedophiles Alone?

I agree it is possible to change ones sexual inclinations of any sort, but i think that the person has to be willing internally to do this. I don't believe the change can be forced or brought about from the outside, without the consent and subsequent choices of the individual themselves.

    Should We Leave Pedophiles Alone?

Heterosexuality is an orientation, not the act of 2 people of opposite genders having sex to produce a baby. It's the latter that's needed for a species survival, not the former. People who prefer their own gender can still have sex with the opposite gender. That happens in real life. People...

WHAT, do you think, is hell?

I think that hell is a word in the English language.

    Non-Religious Arguments Against Same-Sex Marriage (2)

If these are your beliefs, that's fine, as we all have beliefs on this topic. But the question for me is, why should the government make legislation based on your (or anyones) personal beliefs on this topic? How can that interference on a personal matter possibly be justified in a country...

    Should We Leave Pedophiles Alone?

Such a qualification for execution does create a slippery slope in terms of who then should be/can be executed by that criteria. Purely subjective, and often based on arbitrary emotion as well. Kinda like i remember someone a while back when i was last posting here, who thought that people...

    Should We Leave Pedophiles Alone?

But if they are locked up forever, then they can't harm children anymore, so why would there be a need to execute them? To me that view is based purely on emotion and wanting revenge. Execution is not pragmatically necessary for any criminal of any sort. I find killing to rarely be necessary...
