  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The Beloved Disciple

So, that would be a YES answer to the first question, and a NO to the second, i.e.: YES, you say it was not the traditions of men that prejudiced your view on this issue, rather it was a careful consideration of the facts in the plain text of scripture that forced you to conclude the unnamed...

    The Beloved Disciple

Maybe not. But before addressing specifics in your response, here are a few questions to help clarify where you stand on this issue and on respect for the authority of God's word. There are a number of things to be said regarding your comments, but your answers to these questions will help avoid...

    The Beloved Disciple

No you didn't miss it here. See post #10 for the biblical evidence link that lays out case. The biblical evidence disproves the John tradition (and THAT is more important than who the unnamed "other disciple, whom Jesus loved" actually was -- because the scriptures can impeach the methods which...

    The Beloved Disciple

Sadly, like most who need craft excuses to defend their belief in this-or-that unbiblical tradition, your assertions about what scripture is actually teaching do not stand up to biblical scrutiny. First off the God-inspired writer of the fourth gospel did not use one word designate the meal...

    The Beloved Disciple

TheDiscipleWhomJesusLoved.com is a free eBook (new revised edition) that presents the facts in the plain text of scripture on the unnamed "other disciple, whom Jesus loved" and compares and contrast those facts with what scripture tells us about John. WHOEVER this anonymous author of the...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

(Since LittleLambofJesus hasn't yet replied to post 201, I thought I'd take a moment to point out just one of the more obvious flaws therein) It is very telling that you fail to apply your proposed litmus test to your own beliefs. Did you "first ask for anybody to show direct proof that" John...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

Part 2 of 2: Furthermore, the rest of your self-contradicting statement confirms why it is investigators and courts take great pains to distinguish hearsay from evidence, something you appear unable or unwilling to do. Here you assert "these statements" have lead some people "to come to the...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

[As this post ran a bit long it seemed best to split it into two parts.] Part 1 of 2: There are "writings outside the Bible" that teach every false idea under the sun, so people can cite a non-Bible source to support whatever ideas they prefer to believe. So the mere fact others believe an idea...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

Sadly you fail to see your reply itself proves how foolish it is for someone to place their trust in this-or-that non-Bible source. How ridiculous would it be for someone to act as if a reasonable person can consider mutually exclusive claims as if both claims were reasonable. With a...

Who is the other disciple in John 1:35,40?

Before I respond to your comments I would like to first ask a question. I noticed you identify yourself as a "Follower of Isa al-Masih". As I had never heard this term, I wondered who you were following and a brief search on the term turned up the following in the explanation regarding the term...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

If someone turns away from the facts in the plain text of God's word and elects to put their trust in what some non-Bible source has to say regarding the beloved disciple or any other issue, so be it. In scripture we see time and again where people choose to turn-a-blind-eye to the truth on an...

Who is the other disciple in John 1:35,40?

They start with the false assumption that John was the author of the fourth gospel, in spite of the clear biblical evidence to the contrary. Moreover, in the last chapter, the author of the fourth gospel explicitly identifies himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved. So, those who begin with the...

Who was the Disciple that Jesus Loved

Little Lamb, Don't be fooled. The Bible says, "PROVE all things; hold fast that which is good." [Emphasis added] If someone makes a statement and provides NO BIBLICAL EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER to back up that statement, what should be our response? Interesting? How does unbiblical rank...

A case for Lazarus and against tradition.

Either the truth matters to someone or it doesn't. Right! That is why you jumped in with posts to defend the John idea and why you keep trying to defend your belief in the John tradition and why you misstated what scripture said in order act AS IF the John idea was compatible with scripture...
