  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They have long acknowledged that the mere act of observation changes the outcome.

why we do not believe secular scientists

Right! Science is a discipline dictated by the use of the scientific method and evilution is not science. you can't have a population without individuals. :sigh:

why we do not believe secular scientists

The fossil can be observed and tested, but one can not observe a fossil mutating from another species, nor can one observe that fossil procreating a new species, nor can it demonstrate that it procreated at all. The only thing a fossil proves is that something living is now dead and preserved...

why we do not believe secular scientists

What is the cause of .... at some point you have to run into the original cause, God. There is no avoiding that and to start from the premise that there maybe no God would skew all interpretation/observation from there on. That's why I did the "just for fun" because there is a Science of...

why we do not believe secular scientists

IOW: when modern science is confronted with the fact that there is more to this physical existence than what meets eye it turns tail and runs... runs from God like it has for the last 200 years. In this controversy there is no neutral ground. The scientific method can not be used because...

The first creation story seems to agree with evolution

YW I'm asking for your opinion here and there are three choices. 1. They grew on the Third Day 2. They did not grow on the Third Day. 3. I don't know. God rested before the Seventh Day? Or are you saying that it took God longer than a solar day to make a plant grow?

why we do not believe secular scientists

So you admit that science can not answer the why, that is progress. I know you wanna steer the conversation clear of the philosophical, because it is a basic question of humanity; Why are we here, what does all this universe mean, what is the purpose for all this? just for fun... Talk about...

why we do not believe secular scientists

Your examples answer the why with a how. Science can never explain why anything exists, it only attempt to answer how it came into existence. Are you claiming that science accepts that God exists?

why we do not believe secular scientists

Science can't answer 'why,' only 'how.' Yes, they do have something to do with know physical processes, because they violate what science claims is possible. ...and your point is what, exactly?

As for the days of ch 1 being long ages, that would appear to be ruled out by the inclusion of "and the evening and the morning were the x day, don't you think so?

Good points. So what is your conclusion, did plants grow on day three or not?

The first creation story seems to agree with evolution

No we don't chew the cud, and I'm not sure how that is relevant to this conversation. Scripture states that plants good for food was planted there, OTOH it never states that only plants good for food was planted there. When you say, "That could have been on another "day" certainly apart from...

why we do not believe secular scientists

I could find no documentation referencing how these carvings were dated. I did run across several documents written in Chinese, but I can't read them, and they may have contained the requested info. The thrust of this inquiry is that many take what science claims, by blind faith, in an area...
