  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tell us about the Mormon Jesus

For quite a long time, 28 years in fact, I believed that the LDS Jesus Christ conformed exactly to the biblical Christ. I didn't want to believe otherwise. The theology that I had been taught, since I had become a Mormon at age 19, was strictly from the four standard works of the Mormon Church...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

Let's suppose that the YMCA in a particular city held itself out as a Christian organization that would fulfill the social and spiritual needs of young families with pre-teen children. Would it then have an obligation or duty to promptly report sexual child molestation by its employees to law...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

How do the theological pretenses of Joseph Smith indicate the many false faces he had when dealing with his fellow Mormons and non-Mormons? He changed his revelations frequently to increase his position and power over the Mormon Church. His lies were deemed as God's change of mind by his...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

With over 40 lawsuits pending against the Mormon Church in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, West Virginia, and New York the rank-and-file Mormon can't ignore the issue any longer. I had no idea of the sexual abuse being so rife and so condoned in the Mormon Church. Just for the sake of publicity...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

The Roman Catholic Church does not claim that its top level hierarchy has powers of discernment. They have gone out of their way to avoid saying such things. The Mormons, on the other hand, proclaim to the world that they have a monopoly on divine power. Oh, they'll say that other churches are...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

Another matter that raises its head in the context of sexual abuse is that the Mormon Church wants to avoid any bad media publicity. An open court case would be very damaging to the Mormon Church. This would affect their proselytizing efforts. This is why the Church has settled in every sexual...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

Going a little further, the attempts of unprincipled lawyers for the Mormon Church to seek santuary for the Mormon Church Corporation, Intellectual Reserve, under the auspices of the 1st Amendment, are such that assert that the confessions made by a penitent Mormon to a Mormon bishop, stake...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

Actually, no glee was intended, though shock and dismay can be added to my sincere chagrin. How does this account of wicked perversion connect sexual abuse with theology? Well, among other things, the Mormon Church claims to be sole entitled recipient of divine revelation. The men who pretend to...

Mormon Sexual Abuse and Clergy Cover-ups

A very serious pattern of sexual predation and intentional efforts of the Mormon General Authorities and lay clergy to cover-up such acts have been publicly emerging from the LDS Church for for two decades. Just recently I was told about a tragic circumstance that occured in a Mormon ward near...

    The "fortunate fall" of Mormonism

When I Discovered In Moromon Theology That The Sin Of Adam Was Rendered As A "fortunate" Transgression And A "necessary" Step For The Procreation Of Mankind, I Immediately Began To Reflect Upon The Biblical Text In The "book Of Genesis." Such Blatant Contradictions Stick In One's Craw And Find...

    Mormon Eternality & The Impossible

Hi Guys! I've been away for a spell. This thread posits some concepts which I have pursued in other threads. Mormon theogenesis is not an explainable concept. If the requirements for Mormon godhood have existed throughout the cosmos for an infinitely long time, then the first Mormon god was...

    The physical body of God

Who, may I ask, fulfilled the role of the Levitical priests besides the Levitical priests? Where do you get this from the Old Testament? Or, is this your own inference drawn from the BOM? If it is, the idea is purely speculative since God made no such substitutions in the scriptures of the...

    The physical body of God

I had a RLDS D&C a long time ago, but something happened to it. But, in the 1835, Doctrine and Covenants, I believe that the RLDS accepted the 1832 version of the Mormon Section 84:3-5: "Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in...
