  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Predestination

i stand a little bit in the middle, though i lean more to free will. the way i see it, a relationship with God is like a marriage, and in order for any marriage to work, both spouses have to choose to love each other. of course, whether free will or predestination, i don't think salvation is...

    Is this normal?

yes it's normal. i used to get in arguments with people left and right because they'd make some comment about christianity. i do a lot better with it now though, i've learned when i should speak, and when i should just stay silent and move on.

How do you know if you are beyond redemption?

the best answer for this is no, you are not past the point of no return, and you never will be. you might say i don't know what you've done, or how far you've gone, but if there was a point where there was no more hope, then i know i would have been past it long ago. God still loves you, and...

    Is this normal?

never forget that God will use the people we see as the weakest to do the greatest things, for in our weakness He is strong. it's not bad to question things, for if you don't question things and try to find an answer, then how will you have an answer for someone else who asks the same question...

    Catholics vs Christians

in general, the catholic church has changed some of their practices to accommodate the beliefs of society. there are exceptions to this, but in general the catholic church does not teach what the world would call offensive. protestants, who you referred to as general christianity, stick more...

Confused....I don't know what my purpose is

each person is a threat to satan, though in different ways. we all go through different times in life, we each have highs and lows in life. while you may not know what your part in God's plan is, rest assured that you do have a part, we all play a role in His plan. if you want to know more about...

is it wrong for me to

it's ok to not know which one to believe in, since technically a belief in arminianism or calvinism isn't what saves us according to either belief. it is a very divisive point for some and makes great difference in how you see the world, but it isn't the most important thing out there, so being...

How do you reconcile the problem of free will?

God isn't bound by time, He is outside of it, and able to see every part of it. just because He knows what decision will be made before it's made doesn't mean there was no choice in the outcome. if a person weaves a tapestry, from where he is he can see where each thread goes. the thread could...

    thoughts on sexuality ??

the way i see it homosexuality is a sin, but that doesn't mean we need to go around treating homosexuals like dirt. we should treat them the same as any other person in sin, with love. many people have been brought out of homosexuality because christians didn't reject them, but welcomed them...

    Evolution

there is actually evidence that neanderthals are regular humans who simply had a far longer lifespan than we do today. some researchers compared skeletons of humans of different ages, and found that the differences in the skeleton as people get older are the same differences found in...

How to help a Lonely girl?

a great thing for having a good friendship is listening to the other person. of course, in order to do this you have to get them talking, so just try to find out her interests, and get her started on those. people love to talk about themselves, some more than others, so if you can figure out...

what are the differences between certain denominations?

i am not looking for a church, i was simply wondering about the differences because i hear the names all the time, but i don't know just what particular beliefs make a church a certain denomination. i already have a church that i go to regularly.

what are the differences between certain denominations?

i have been a christian for a long time now, raised in a baptist church, though i am not a baptist any longer. i have no idea what different denominations believe, such as evangelical, pentecostal, assembly of God, ect. i do know about baptist, catholic, lutheran, non-denominational, but that's...

Should Christian women wear head scarves?

i remember studying this, and several other issues a while back. there is also a verse saying women should not cut their hair short. the reason for this was because in that time short hair was the sign of a prostitute, and i believe that the issue with the head being uncovered was either the...

    to heaven ?

the issue really isn't with deserving heaven, because really none of us deserve it. with Jesus having taken our punishment for us, the issue is now on choice, and who decides to accept His sacrifice (of course this is the non-calvinist view). your friend could just as easily be saved as you, if...
