  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Happy Birthday to our Members!!!

Ah, I thought that the Old Testament was written after Eratosthenes. I've heard conflicting reports on OT dates. It makes sense to me that the Hebrews would have thought the earth was flat, I don't think that they were a seafaring culture. They didn't have a whole lot of use for navigation, I...

    Happy Birthday to our Members!!!

The Greeks knew the earth was round long before the Bible was written. The early Church up until some time after Galileo's death was geocentric, though.

    Happy Birthday to our Members!!!

Seems like all the people who love to get quoted agree that Adam and Eve don't have belly buttons: AIG: "Did Adam have a belly-button? I believe we really have an answer to that, and we can say, 'No - Adam didn't. Neither did Eve.'" Hey, the ICR head honcho even wrote a book about it! "Lack...

    Happy Birthday to our Members!!!

Well, if Adam and Eve didn't have bellybuttons because they did not undergo a natural birth, why would a tree created mature have extra tree rings if it did not undergo years of annual growth?

    Happy Birthday to our Members!!!

Would these trees be made with growth rings, paulewog, or should we find very old trees that have a rather large, solid core compared to the annual growth rings around them? Along the same line, did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?

    Why evolution doesn't work.

"Intelligent Design" advocates are mediocre scientists and even worse theologists. They cling to this silly idea because of bad theology. Somehow they feel the need to fundamentally change evolution in some way, though even they admit it counts for 99% of all life. The mousetrap thing is...

    What Would It Take?

OK SB, it just seemed that you were equating evolution with atheism, I'm sorry. I hope you realize, though, that almost all of the scientists here who argue about stuff like evolution are not trying to prove atheism, they are trying to correct a misrepresentation or misunderstanding of science...

    What's the use?

John, the thing that most people are trying to tell you is that understanding that the theory of organic evolution accurately describes life on this planet does not make you an atheist or any less a Christian. Many Christians, myself included, do not have a problem with this concept. People...

    What Would It Take?

A lot of Christians do not have a problem reconciling science with the Bible, SB.

    What Would It Take?

I can't think of anything that would indicate the universe is very young, on the order of a few thousand years, but if someone could show me fossils that have a huge number of aquatic & land species from different eras mixed together, and explained it with a rational global flood model with...

Darwin Demoted In Ohio: Praise The Lord

It's not close-minded, straightforward, it just has a lot of evidenciary and testable support. Science is based on challenging theories, refining them, proposing new ones if necessary. However, the theory of organic evolution has been tested uncountable times over the last century and before...

Darwin Demoted In Ohio: Praise The Lord

Yeah, why isn't anyone asking the relevant question here: how many of these dissenting scientists are named Steve?

    Dr. Dino

OK, let's talk about the possibility of a worldwide flood. For your perusal, mjiracek, I've examined the models that young-earth literalist websites propose: From AIG: "In their peer-reviewed article 'Flood models: the need for an integrated approach', Andy McIntosh, Tom Edmonson and...

Who said fossilization takes millions of years?

I agree that most people here aren't geology experts (is that the relevant field?). I'd like to hear an opinion from someone who works with fossils. That said, I would like to address some of these quotations. Note the word "perhaps." Not a very strong assertion there. Dinosaur fossils...
