  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Non-Catholic churches not true churches

Who am I "impostering"? Myself? I am speaking my mind as i see it. No one's twisting your brittle arms in this. If you dont agree, fine. If you have no patience than you are the arrogant one. I am Catholic. If you don't like it tough. Your 'opinion' of that matters very little to...

    Non-Catholic churches not true churches

I am familiar with the concepts. I am also familiar with the fact that they are just that...concepts. Other churches do have their version of eucharist ....so what? If the Spirit is truly working through that church what do we have to say against it? you are right...they are not in communion...

    Non-Catholic churches not true churches

The document has all the eloquence and mental gymnastics of a political appeal. It's a "have your cake and eat it too" document that, like a lot of Vatican documents, introduces words to allow safe fence sitting..."subsits". The Holy Spirit can not be nailed down and confined to men's notions of...

Christ is not divided nor Should we be.

I stopped coming to this forum for the exact opposite reason. I am Catholic and got quite bored with the smugness of those who were so complacent in their faith and at the same time were afraid to have it challenged. There are many valid questions and a forum like this is a good place to air...

Receiving the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin.

It simply is not our business to surmise who is in sin or not. When thoughts like these come to me i see clearly what a hypocrite i am. It is the slimy self moving in the depths. All i know is I AM in sin and have no right at all before God to even think i am more worthy of the Sacrament then...

I agree Christina. I wouldn't trust my diocese with this choice, unfortunately. We are so immersed in the world that I have a hard time finding someone who isn't as enslaved as me. I have heard good things about the Dubay book also. THanks.

    Spiritual Direction

hello, I need a spiritual guide and wonder if anyone has one and how they found him/her. There is no one in my immediate circle of Catholics whom i would choose and don't know how to find one. I have been looking for years now. Any insights? Thank you.

    Early Fathers of the Philokalia

This is an amazing book. Are these writings used on the parish level in any way? There seems to be a lot of practical stuff in here. Thank you.

    Early Fathers of the Philokalia

This is a great help in one's walk. Are these writings used on the parish level? For example St Palamas talks about bringing attention into the body. Is this ever practiced anywhere? Are there reading groups that discuss these wonderful writings? Thank you.

    Bearing one another's sins

It's wrong, in my opinion, unless it's no big deal and the offender is cognizant of the gravity of the situation. Otherwise it's a kind of enabling or taking the correction they need to change away from them. It is also not a very real scenario.
