The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin

Luther believed that Our Lady was assumed into Heaven, just as he accepted her perpetual virginity. His stand against the Church was a mixture of pride, politics, and a renegade Dominican Friar.

    Christus Vincit chant

Hey guys, at the end of the Easter day Mass, the choir chanted the "christus vincit." I thought it was so beautiful - would any of you know where I might be able to acquire an mp3 of it?

Yes to the Traditional Latin Mass, Benedict XVI.

This is indeed wonderful news, and I look forward to the day when I can actually fulfil my Sunday obligation by attending the traditional Mass. I'm hoping to gain entry into the FSSP seminary in Nebraska, God willing, so this news could mean I'll be welcomed home in England and be provided...

    Favorite Bible Translation?

The "Reformation" in England was of a totally different nature. It was not about thellogy so much as power and governance of the Church in England. Reforming influences did play a part but the King was quick to stamp out what he deemed as erroneous doctrine with the Passing of the Act of 6...

Gregorian Chant Is Returning from Exile. Maybe

Well my parish has recently brought back plainchant for the kyrie, sanctus and agnus dei, but my deacon ruled out chanting the the pater noster when I asked him. "Oh, nowhere does that anymore!"

UNAM SANCTAM and Vatican II: a question

While I see Vatican II as purely pastoral, one could argue that all Christians are part of the Church through their baptism (and thus able to attain salvation) but once they reject the truth held by the Church, then they separate themselves from her totally.

    Word From Rome: Benedict/SSPX

Well their problems with Vatican II , and I find the quotes they've given quite shocking - are they genuine? - are not really a problem because it was a pastoral council and didn't define any doctrin or dogma that Catholics are bound by.

How many would welcome an indult allowing the Latin Mass in every parish?

Vatican II didn't sanction the current veracular Mass we have today.

    God's Election to Salvation Poll

Conditional - why would God actively control someone's actions so as to send them to Hell? It would demonstrate his omnipotence, but counter his omnibenevolence.

    Fighting Absurdity with Absurdity

Would they get the irony is one question which springs to mind. But on the other hand, they will never accept that we catholics aren't all bad people. Too much indoctrination INHO.

Just how does the Holy Spirit protect the Church?

To me it's proof that God that use even the most hardened sinner for good, and that pronoucements made by the Holy Father are divinely inspired.
