I respect that Bourgeois took time to attempt to form and inform his conscience. It is unfortunate that this is the result, which is just going to lead to further schism and "othering" by many. Thiis laicization was a long time in coming, but will probably not stop him from "celebrating" Mass.

I thought it was a good article which stressed the both/and nature, we can limit abortions and help women. (But, gasp, this may require "big government" to intervene by providing social services, or making sure all businesses offer maternity leave to women!)

I really would recommend talking about these things to a priest or minister in person about whether or not stance. I will say, however, that the Church had never really made an official stance on the Creation story. St. Augustine himself considered it possible that the creation narratives...

The bishops DO make announcements on Social Justice issues frequently. The problem is that either the media doesn't pay attention, or that the USCCB doesn't do a good job publicizing.

I think that putting money in at the collection is an important witness for your children. I credit my parents' example for teaching me to always donate at Mass, even if it is only a few dollars (what I can afford to give right now as a graduate student). Anhelyna's system sounds really good...

To assuage your fears: Vatican II explicitly rejects false irenicism. Lumen Gentium and Gaudium et Spes (and other writings from the Council) both explicitly call for the evangelization of the world.

It is a debated issue and up to the individual believer as to whether or not Mary died and was immediately taken up or simply that God decided just prior to her death to bring her up. A good question to ask is: what does it mean to die? What does it mean to be a physical presence in Heaven...

I would disagree. The Evangelists interpreted Jesus as fulfillment of prophecies which many considered already fulfilled or as non-prophetic. There are biblical warrants for purgatory outside of the passage from Corinthians, which to me reads more as something which could explain the process...

The reality is that a Bible's footnotes cannot contain every interpretation. It could not be contained. If you want fully-inclusive interpretations, you would have to look at an exegetical book fore each book. An imprimatur does not mean it says everything, just that there is nothing...

I think the point of footnotes is to get to a meaning of the passage as it was meant by the author. The NAB footnote for 1 Cor 3:15 does not negate the fact that it can and is interpreted as a proof for purgatory, but simply that, perhaps, that is not what Paul meant in the letter.

Footnotes are one author's interpretation and analysis of the text. They are not the "end all to be all" of an interpretation and anybody who considers them as such is a lunatic. If you want full analysis, get a commentary of the Book from Scripture. His fourth issue misses the point entirely...
