    Christianity and Brutality.

Sad, yet true. Governments are flawed, man-made things and to unite them with the Church practically always ends up corrupting and destroying the Church. You cannot bring heaven down on earth.

    Anti-Christian Books

Agreed. The overly political Christian Right is actually probably just as much a threat against Christianity than anything else. Closely tying religion and God with a man-made, flawed political party and the ideology of that party (whether it's biblical or not) doesn't seem to me to be a smart...

Holy kiss, holy faith, holy day, holy angels...but is there a holy week?

Where in the Bible does it say that we should celebrate Jesus' birthday on December 25th? It doesn't, so I guess we should probably stop celebrating Christmas (especially since, let's be honest, it's observed in a far less religious way than Holy Week is)

    Praying over food?

We should pray whenever WE want? What about whenever GOD wants? Praying is about honoring and praising God, not about doing what feels good for ourselves. Personally I always try to pray before every meal as a way of thanking God for feeding me when so many others in our world are starving. I...

    Narrow Theology

It's because homosexuality is a very easy sin to dislike. It's a sin that most people are not tempted by and in fact feel an instinctive repugnance for, so it's far easier for us to focus on it than to focus on a sin that we ourselves might actually be tempted by and might find attractive.

How do we know who is right?

So many Christians have so many different ideas and theological positions about God...how can we ever know who is right and who isn't? Which denomination really has the right of it all and which denominations are wrong? What if we pick the wrong one without knowing it?

    Sermon on the Mount

Thanks for the replies, although I'm still confused about the subject. I know I can't live up to the Sermon on the Mount, and it's been making me wonder if I am really saved, since I can't do what God asks us to do.

    Mega-Churches Offer Prayer, Play, Shopping

One of the worst things about a large number of mega-churches (besides the unappetizing materialistic consumer aspect of them and the fact that they intentionally target white upper class professionals) is that they tend to water down the gospel and instead preach listener friendly messages...

    Christians/ Christlike

I also think it's definitely mainly a problem in the western world, probably due to our materialistic society and our addiction to competition, wealth, success, etc. Alot of times we as Christians here in the west don't act very Christlike compared to Christians in poorer parts of the world...

    Sermon on the Mount

Do you think it's possible to live up to the standards set in the Sermon on the Mount? Do you think we should take it literally and try to live up to it? Is it even possible for us to live according to what Jesus proposes in the sermon?

    are born again christians sinless?

I don't understand how we can't sin. I'm a Christian and I find myself sinning every day. It's minor stuff and I always try to repent, but it's still sins nontheless. It's not possible for anybody to be sinless, except for God.

kids gone wild? -- Parental Blame

I really think it's the fault of our society. I'm not a parent (yet!) so maybe I can't talk, but it seems like it would be very difficult to be a good parent and instill morals in your children in a society where morality is looked down upon and belittled and rebellion against authority is praised.

    Public, Private or Home Schooling?

Thanks. I think that practically every teacher would agree that there are many problems with the public school system of today. I'll probably make somebody mad for saying this, but I think the problems started when the federal government started taking too much control of the school system and...

    Public, Private or Home Schooling?

As a public schoolteacher and a devout Christian myself, I wish that other Christians wouldn't bash public school teachers so much.

    The Occult

I'm a public schoolteacher and I haven't seen any occult things taught in any of the schools I've been in. What exactly do you mean by that? Can you give an example? Anyway, I do agree however that there is way too much occultic things in our society, and I think that it's because people have...
