  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Eraserhead. Saw it for the first time last week. I love that it is like a weird dream.

    "Quiverfull": "Arrows For The War"

I don't care how many kids someone has, just don't ask me to babysit. Ugh.

Advice on son moving out-"tough love"

I'm not very concerned about his age, it's his behavior. And no, the bf does not live with me. He isn't bad-mouthing my son, he is trying to help me. As an example of what I deal with, I called my son on the phone a bit ago, to ask if he could grab the laundry out of the dryer for me...

    Annoying Commercials

That terribly acted satellite commercial, where that MOST ANNOYING kid says: "Hey Dad, the cable's out again! Can you FIX IT?" With a very peculiar emphasis on "fix it." This commercial is by far the most quoted, most made fun one in my household. You just have to see it to know what...

Advice on son moving out-"tough love"

Well, I have told him he'd better stop disrespecting me or he has to move out, and as little as 3 days ago, he was swearing at me, so yeah, he needs to go. My friends have seen him act this way to me, and they can't believe I have put up with it for as long as I have. I'm trying to be...

Advice on son moving out-"tough love"

This forum seems to be more about babies, but I really some advice/support. I have talked about this situation before on CF, sorry, but now the circumstances have changed a bit. My 19 year old son still lives with me, and I'd rather he not. In a nutshell, we have concluded that the best thing...

    Women and Wedding Attire

Sometimes it's hard to find a dress that will go from day to evening. A sundress might be ok during the day, but weird at a nite reception. And you don't want to look too much like you are going to niteclub. Plus there is the added problem of trying to look nice without upstaging the bride...

    When "friends" are cruel

Well, the opportunity to discuss this issue with my friend finally presented itself. She was telling me that she gets annoyed when her mom tells her that she is not eating enough, and that it bugs her when she always talks about food. So I told her that she herself talks an awful lot about...

My parents putting their dog to sleep today

My mother has been crying for days now, and my parents finally reached the decision to put their dog down this afternoon. My mom is so upset, and I feel really bad for her. She gets attached to people and animals more than most people do, and has lost her brother and sister and now beloved pet...

    When "friends" are cruel

This is more of a vent than anything else. After recovering a few years ago, things are going well. But my best friend, who is <edit> always talking (bragging?) to me how she can never find clothes small enough to fit her, how she never feels hungry, how she doesn't have to work out to be...

Who do you hang out with?

My closest friend and bf are my age, but my acquaintences tend to be younger, even by a decade or more.

    Clueless and angry

I know this is kind of late coming, but an acquaintance of mine had Bell's Palsy. Here is a link: http://www.bellspalsy.ws/symptoms.htm He recovered from it, BTW. :)

Tip Jar- Less heavy ethical dillema

I don't think it's deceitful. But one could argue that by putting money in there, people think they should tip, when perhaps they don't want to, but since they don't want to appear to be a cheapskate, they do anyway. ;) What would happen if you used a container that no one could see the...

    Unusual disciplinary methods?

I remembered that back in elementary school, there was this girl whose parents made her wear a dress to school if she misbehaved. She was a real tomboy, and wearing a dress was terrible punishment for her. Needless to say, we knew if she had been naughty. Have you tried or heard of unusual...
