  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the best places to meet singles?

According to studies, the most common way is through social networks/friends, rather than any specific physical location or method.

Should I let him know how I feel?

"There's no better plan than to do or to die." I've been in a similar situation, and basically it's awkward to bring it up because you hate to ruin the friendship or make the other person feel uncomfortable. You can try a letter or email if talking about it directly is too hard. The thing is...

unsure what to do for depressed husband

I would remind him he is loved, and will be loved no matter how his work goes, and that he is more important than it. I would tell him what he means to me, and means to his children, and how it hurts us to see him suffer like that. I would also tell him how his suffering affects us negatively...

    late 30s and lonely always

I would encourage you to look into therapy. Those are behavioral issues that need to be corrected-- and yes, you can change, no matter what your age. Medication alone isn't always a panacea. You can try getting a recommendation from your doctor who prescribes your medication or look in the...

    I feel I am non-existant to her..

That kind of romantic infatuation she probably has for her SO is like a drug that's just completely overpowering; it can blind you from all else, make you feel euphoric around the person, and depressed without them. The biological drive for reproduction is very, very powerful. Even when you...

    Holiday Depression, but Why??

Indeed, I think you just answered your own question. "Supposed". Supposed according to who? Not getting what you want is a cause of suffering. When you paint that picture of happiness in your mind that relies on external things (friends, families, specific holiday items, presents, etc), if...

How do I tell someone how much they mean to me?

To quote a TV show: "There are some things we don't say often enough; things like what we mean to each other. You all mean a lot to me, and I want you to know that." (to his crew, after recovering from a near-fatal gunshot wound) I actually used a variation of that in some of the cards I sent...

    Please Help

I would like to STRONGLY urge you to get professional help. Suicidal thoughts are very severe and should be a signal you need to work to resolve your depression ASAP. There's nothing to fear about getting help-- no one will think any less of you for it, and it is the fastest and best way to...

    anxiety...

You are experiencing suicide ideation. You need immediate, professional help. There is something wrong with you. You're human. And as a result of being human, your genetics, your environment, and your life, you're temporarily in a state of depression. Severe depression, suicide ideation...

    What difference does it make?

[/COLOR]As Conan said, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women." Well, maybe not ;) Biblically it is to worship God. And how do we worship God? By prayer and serving others with love. And why should we do this? Happiness and contentment...

    It's Always The Same.

That is very true. Emotions do run in cycles, and some days are better than others. However, this is actually a good sign... because it means depression does not rule every day you have. That isn't quite freedom from depression, but it's certainly better than nothing other than depression...

    This cannot be normal....

You are wrong, you are very wrong. Depression is not who you are, and you are not depression-- any more than you happiness, anger, fear, etc. Think about it. Were you depressed all your life? No. Then clearly, identifying yourself with this is wrong. You must remember, all emotions, even...

Post the time you woke up today and your mood

7:50 am, peaceful and semi-alert. I read some rather disturbing medical studies showing late-evening bright light and active mental tasks (even watching TV or web browsing) seriously impair sleep, which I've been doing all my life, so I'm trying to have a "quiet/dark time" in the evening for...

I had the best day and now i am so depressed.

I was going to post a reply, but then realized I said exactly that, only using more words :p. Finding contentment is the tricky part, because we are so reluctant to let go.
