  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Well done, I think you explained this better than I was able to!

    Well said eckhart. There is nothing to lose by just giving it a go. There's even the 30 day vegan easy challenge: Easy vegan lifestyle vegan easy challenge. Check it out; the people there can mentor you for free. Even if you don't care about animals, do it to reduce your risk of heart disease...

    ...despite the logical inconsistency.

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    Ok. The question is still kind of valid though; you know it's illegal to castrate a cat or dog without anaesthetic, but it's not illegal for farmed animals. By condoning current farming practices you obviously condone this inconsistency, right?

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    Interesting. As a vet I'm sure you use anaesthesia when you castrate a cat or dog (for example). So why do you think it's ok for such procedures to be inflicted on farmed animals without anaesthetic? What physiological differences between species can explain this inconsistency?

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    The opinion you gave is that I'm offensive. You haven't given any opinion on the actual issue here, which is animal suffering.

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    Forgive me, but the only argument you've used against what I've said has been that you found it offensive, so you haven't done anything to refute the truth in what I've said. What exactly are you disagreeing with? The fact that animals suffer in these production systems? Or the idea that this...

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    I appreciate the honesty from Illuminaughty, and we definitely are seeing people reject/ignore truth because they find it "offensive" (I'm looking at americanvet especially here). We are all on a journey though, and people will come to certain realisations in different ways. A life unexamined...

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    I'm not surprised by your responses. I have heard them all before, but nothing can excuse animal abuse. You've now made the same mistake twice though: Human slavery is a good analogy for the current situation with animals. I have not stated moral equivalence. Since you don't understand...

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    They have the same pain receptors as we do, they have brains that are linked to those pain receptors by nerves, just as we do. Just as animals use their ears to hear and their eyes to see, they use their nervous systems to feel pain and distress. It would be a fallacy to assume that the same...

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    So the analogies aren't actually false. They're just offensive to you, and I think you explained why using a populist argument (ie. the vast majority eating meat). So in essence all you have is "well, everyone else does it!" The situation was the same when black people were used for slavery. It...

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    I didn't insult your intelligence. I just said that based on your profession you obviously have intelligence, but chose not to use it in that instance. So the NT says it's ok to eat meat. Well, go and kill a wild animal for yourself, if you must. I highly doubt the NT says it's ok to confine...

    It seems that I have asked questions that cannot be answered.

    Christianity --> Veganism?

    It's an analogy, not a statement of moral equivalence. If you're a vet you should be smart enough to understand the distinction.
