  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Liberal church denominations

Wow, all these posts and no one has mentioned the Unitarian-Universalists? UUs are slightly different in that they don't have an actual "creed" (as in, "this is the God/gods that every UU believes in"), but they are their own faith, and in order to be a UU, you must believe in their 7...

    Sometimes Cocaine Is Good

The problem is, I believe, not with the substance itself but with the delivery method. Snorting cocaine over the long-term can do serious damage to the mucous membranes in your nose and throat, and I don't think I need to go into the risks/dangers of injecting it. Also, you cannot always be...

    What is homosexuality?

Regardless of what the Bible says, gay people exist. You can believe it is a sin all you want, but to deny our very existence is insulting and offensive.

Miss. lesbian student sues over rejected tux photo

EXACTLY. And if the school's dress code didn't say so, then there was no reason for them to prevent her from wearing a tux for her picture, and no reason for her to be excluded from the senior yearbook. It's textbook discrimination, plain and simple.

    Is homosexuality a sin?

Exactly. Not to mention that it's awfully easy for a heterosexual Christian to say 'Just be celibate forever', while they can find a lifelong mate and marry them. It's real easy to claim that a whole group of people have to live by rules that you never have to follow. And it has always...

    Is homosexuality a sin?

This has been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere on the site, but the long and short of it is: The Hebrew word translated as 'to lie with' in this particular verse is used everywhere else in the Bible as a word to mean coerced sex, i.e. rape. So it would appear that the original intent of this...

    Is homosexuality a sin?

If my wonderful, healthy, loving, stable marriage to my wife is the product of a mental illness... Then, fine, I have a mental illness.

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

Fine. Then I assume you would not be opposed to my civil marriage to my wife? The legal (not religious) recognition of our deep, lifelong commitment? Or even the religious blessing of the commitment by our church, our clergy person, and our congregation? If you are opposed to these things...

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

Yes - I knew that. Yet, no mention of homosexuals in committed relationships going to hell. Knew that, too. Still, no 'committed, loving homosexual relationships are abomination' commandment. As far as I have been able to tell, these Levitical laws were abolished with the New Covenant -...

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

Which commandments are you referring to? Because there's nothing in the Ten Commandments about homosexuality... And the Two Greatest Commandments don't mention it either.

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

First, durable powers of attorney only work if they are honored, and apparently there are many situations where they are not. For example, I should not be kept from seeing my wife in the hospital, nor be barred from making decisions on her behalf should she become incapacitated - And don't tell...

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

And what of those who do not believe in your god? Does your religion teach that only those who subscribe to your particular religious ways are allowed to get married? There are other religions/faiths that bless same-sex marriage. No one is demanding that your church do the same - All that is...

    Homosexuality (Give me your opinion)

How does legal, secular, civilly-recognized marriage have anything to do with the "church"?

    Bloody gays

Great thread title. :) In the US, at least as far as I know, MSM aren't prohibited from giving blood, but they are discouraged from doing it. I don't think it is ethical, in my not-so-humble opinion. Especially for those MSM who are monogamous, have never been promiscuous (or, at least not...

    Seperation of Religion and Politics?

QFT. I couldn't have said it better myself.
