  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Metal..

Ahhh..the moshpit. When I first ventured into metal the crowd was a sea of long hair banging in unison. The mosh pit came along later, kinda sometime in the late 80's, and was really an invasion from punk, so it was never really taken to by the old school metallers like myself. It was too...

    Christian thrash/speed metal

Saint were'nt particularly thrashy, and most of the bands in the OP were 80's stuff, but all good for the mind. I think the whole Christian extreme metal etc genre should take a bow and give gratitude to Mortification and the spinoffs like Horde for helping break the ground for that genre to...

What Group has the biggest impact on Christian Rock Music?

Funny question, because the group that has the biggest impact on Christian rock is not likely to be a Christian group, is it? The Christian bands all sound like secular bands really. There would probably be no Christian rock if it wasn't for people like Larry Norman and groups like the...

    Metal..

Shouldn't judge a band by the fans, although, I haven't any acquiantances that listen to both Limp and AE. If you changed your style, yes, but if you didn't.....think about it. If a traditional metal band like Iced Earth change their sound to accomodate "nu-metal" or "death/grind/whatever"...

    Metal..

I wasn't condescending, it was a compliment. I'm serious. You remind me of me at your age. I wish I had it again. Not in my circles. There's no similarity of sound either. AE don't rap. Can't agree with you here. Remember my rule of thumb- once metal, always metal. LOL. "the...

    Metal..

OK...cool......let's see... I might suggest checking out the names mentioned in this thread and other sources in the Amazon site, where they have little samples from the albums available for sale, as well as reviews from fans and foes alike. Well, they are about to release their 12th album...

    Metal..

Well, you bring a good point. Firstly, I think it's important to know that every twelve year old should learn to play Iron Man, even though the soloing in the break of the song is a little complex at first. ;) The difference is that it will take him a lot longer to learn to play Fairies Wear...

Yes, but it's an "in-joke" all the same.

    Metal..

Ahhh...the militancy and absolutism of youth...refreshing, isn't it?:) First of all, what is wrong with Maiden? They changed the face of metal, and if you really think about, this kind of reasoning means that every single musician who has distortion on their guitar and plays a...

    Metal..

[/i] a) Yes he is. b) Yes it is. Three things make a musician: a) Ability with the intrument. b) Ability with composition. c) Expressing in art the song of the heart and head. Song-writing is b+c, and I think the Sabs were pretty high up on that scale. Melody- see: b) above. The...

    Metal..

Yes, I agree there too. I guess the term metal is very interesting in and of itself. The sub-genres are just more ways of trying to describe music IMHO. As I mentioned before, to me, what was metla some time ago is still metal, but just the older sound. However, these days, especially with...

Cool. You got that right. I agree, except for the Sabbath thing. LOL.....I'm biased. I grew up on them. :)

    Metal..

Yes, I agree. I think sadly that metal with a Christian emphasis hit a brick wall around 93 or so, but it is about to stage a comeback, with the re-emergence of power metal as the dominant sub-genre. It's all good because Leviticus have reformed. :)
