  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Recommend Bible Version

I read the KJV and the NRSV. I like the King James best, though the only time I have read the bible all the way through from start to finish was the NIV because somebody had told me that it was the easiest to read. I honestly read A LOT so I couldn't say that it was "easier," but different...

What do you listen to while reading?

I do not always listen to music while I read, but most of the time, I have something on. I love to listen to Vivaldi's violin concertos.

Is there a feature on the Kindle that allows you to take notes or underline or anything like that?

Great! I also remembered that some of the social groups on CF serve a similar purpose.

    recommended reading forum

I was just cruising the forums looking for something like a recommended reading forum. How about it? Smart guidelines could make it something very much like a reader's fellowship library. Post the title of the book in the title of the thread. A little information about the author's...

I was in Wisconsin for vacation last week and my family visited the Amish community around Cashton, WI. The land is so nice up there. It was a great visit.

    first post hello and question

I went to Mass last Saturday. It was at a different Church that was a little smaller and a lot more crowded. So, I now have a question about kneeling. Should I kneel with the rest of the congregation? The first time I went to Mass this year was at a Church that was a little more sparse, so I...

    first post hello and question

I know about not taking the Eucharist. Since, a friend of mine was with the group of us that went to the Cathedral in Chicago and her and a Catholic friend went up to get a blessing, but they gave them Communion instead...! She. Felt. Awful. for the mistake.

    first post hello and question

I have read some of St. Augustine already, but I will probably wait to add City of God to my reading list. I am looking for a nice hardbound copy of The Confessions, though. I think I will look for something nice by St Therese or St Faustina. Thank you for the recommendations. I have...

    first post hello and question

yeah, I meant lurking. VivoCristoRey, one of the reasons I wanted to become a Christian again (after about three years claiming not to be) was a conversation I had with a Nun on a bus ride. She also said that I should read anything that I can find by or about the Saints. Recommended St...
