  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

ABC News Piece - Youths, Schools, and YouTube

Earlier tonight I was watching World News Tonight on ABC (I haven't been able to see it for a few weeks. Sinclair Broadcasting and my cable company have been fighting each other quite publicly over the past few months). There was this soft news piece, a "fluff" story about students taking fancy...

Poorly Written "How Stuff Works" Article

Aside from their slow loading pages, I applaud most of the work at howstuffworks.com. It's an invaluable tool for teaching and reminding us how things work. Children often use it to learn, and adults can use it to learn what they should already know by now...

    Earth in 25 million years

GoSeminoles!, You may be interested in reading about a 2003 Animal Planet show called The Future Is Wild. It's about what the world would look like if humans went extinct and what would live 5, 100, and 200 million years in the future. It's highly speculative and I've only read about it at...

    What Questions?

What questions should a person ask herself when trying to believe what she believes? I'm asking for a list of quick questions with minimal commentary. Thanks.

    Transcendence

Not sure what this has to do with anything, especially as we do not share a lineage with the Neanderthals. However, the Neanderthals are a very interesting subject; one which I will explore in a future thread.

Any idea of when and where that took place?

    Transcendence

We never biologically transcended the animal kingdom. I mean in a more philosophical or metaphysical sense. Did you mean to say sapience instead of sentience?

    Transcendence

At what point did human transcend the animal kingdom? When did we finally become awake and understand that there is more than just survival?

Pat Robertson Makes His Prediction for 2007

On a popular television show, a religous zealot was taken to a police interrogation room. He claimed that God spoke to him, but I don't remember exactly what he claimed was said. The police Captain said, "God spoke to Reverend Whoever. He sent an angel to speak to the mother of his only son, but...

    Museums

I disagree. Crime scenes are altered by observation. Police and technicians have to do everything to keep from altering the scene so everything they find is admissible in court. Latex gloves, photographs, not touching everything; it's all because everything done affects the crime scene and in...

    Descendant of David

    That would prove it.

    Museums

The difference here is that pottery from ancient Rome doesn't have anything to do with theology, genetics, evolution, or understanding where humanity came from. We don't get into heated political or theological debates over archeological artifacts from ancient Rome. There's no debate over...

    Descendant of David

That would answer everything. Someone mistook a Greek pronoun for he instead of she and lead to my confusion.

    Descendant of David

Did this promise to David include Jesus being a biological decendent? That's the most important part here. Jesus was not a biological decendant of David unless Mary was also one. He could have been a legal decendant as the adoptive son of Joseph, however the value of that sounds questionable.
