  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Attacked for defending innocent Children??

I wonder why so many people dropped out. Consider a surrogate mother. The genes aren't hers. The egg wasn't hers. The sperm wasn't chosen by her. Nothing of that which is growing inside of her "belongs" to her genetically speaking. Should a problem arise where carrying full term and...

What are the processes that have kept the earth’s core hot for 4.5 billion years?

Unsubstantiated claims. If you disagree with inductive logic then I'll help you to the top of a tall building and you can prove my inductive logic wrong by flying down. Two birds with one stone, as they say. EDIT: Which part of the scientific method do you not agree with, Dud...

    Attacked for defending innocent Children??

That's not even the right question. By definition a baby is developed to exist extrinsic of the womb. The fetus becomes viable when the function of it's own biologic systems enables it to survive with or without aid outside the incubative womb. When the birth occurs, the conceived - should it...

Philosophy has no meaning for "Christians"

I can agree with that EPE. I think that what he was doing was illustrating that, while attempting to provide philosophical answers, it does so only on the authority of the source rather than, say, deduction or induction, rationality or logic. There are some philosophical sayings in there, some...

    Attacked for defending innocent Children??

This is a non sequiter. You are on the one hand talking about fully developed yet "deficient"people - I suppose as a product of their development - and the opinion of them versus the undeveloped eggs, embryos, blastocysts, fetuses. The analogy will not hold because an undeveloped thing is not...

What are the processes that have kept the earth’s core hot for 4.5 billion years?

Swing and a miss. What is your approach to the real world? Make your conclusion fit the evidence or make(up) the evidence to support your conclusion? Don't bother answering, I already know. In science there may be a bias, but this bias is eliminated by the peer review process. Think there...

    Everyone here should watch this!!!

Dial up so I can't watch it. I've seen some refutations of this video before by YECs. Usually along the lines of "He's not a True Christian, he's Catholic!" Other than that no substance. Prove me wrong please.

Hey! who's your fave philosopher and why?

That depends on whether you agree with your philosophies or not. I barely find the time to agree with myself, there is much to debate, even on the most minor topics. :D

    The World According....To Playboy?

Over time, I'll give you that. 200,000 copies sold in about two months - for a science publication that is quite extraordinary, even a lot of copies just for a publicly released novel back then! But to say that people didn't care is to ignore the impact. Rockefeller was put on the spot...

    Yes...another Good and Evil thread

My definition of evil is playing "defect" as opposed to the other's playing of "cooperate" in the prisoner's dilemma. ;) That is as simple as evil gets. My choice is for 2. We've evolved the fast judgment. We've evolved, for the most part, stable decision making mechanisms. Take theft, as...

    Attacked for defending innocent Children??

You know, that makes sense to say it was wrong. But now we're judging the actions of another person, the fireman, who exercised a choice to save an actual human over many potential humans. My question is what makes saving either right or wrong, if at all? I think the scenario is a great...

What are the processes that have kept the earth’s core hot for 4.5 billion years?

What I find funny is that people like Dad have existed throughout history and, time and again, they are shown wrong. God draws the sun across the heliosphere* in a chariot. Now to prove that wrong we would have needed to be outside, stationary observers of our solar system. It's funny though...

P1: All teenagers lack wisdom. P2: As an older adult, I have more wisdom about the world. P3: Anyone that is less wise than I will give poor advice. C: Therefore, teenagers - even if they are right - do not have any wisdom worth taking into consideration. Hide behind your "But I didn't say...

Hey! who's your fave philosopher and why?

Acton, Mill, Hume, Locke. Acton seems relevant these days, what with the majority of the USA being ruled by the wealthy class (again). And he's very quotable. "There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple...

    It is Important!

Is this an Old Spice advert posing as a post? ;) "If you have to ask what 'it' is, you obviously don't have it." :D
